It depends on your local market. Some have been updated to support "Full duplex" which allows for symmetrical Gigabit internet.

Download the App, login, select the newly created account number and activate the modem (even if you are using your own modem)

Once done, return any equipment if you have under the first account back to Xfinity. And then cancel the first account

I have been doing this for years.

First sign up with a new email account for this deal.
Once your modem gets delivered hook it up to get your internet going then cancel your old acct.
only thing is you have to pay for $15-25 modem delivery fee which is one time fee. I m planning on doing this to lock in 5 year pricing.

Can someone who has mobile lines as well help me ? I want to get this deal as my contract is expiring in September. But I also have 2 mobile lines. If I create a new account with the same name , would my mobile lines stay intact ? Is the account is tied to both Internet and mobiles together ? Can someone please help me how to navigate this situation ?

There is no term or yearly increases/haggling. That's not to say they couldn't raise prices tomorrow. FIVE years price-lock on this deal is tempting.

I do credit card, auto-pay. It's $30 out the door every month. No fees, tax, equipment, etc.

Yes, this. I keep seeing these comments about just adding a new account under a different household member's name and then deleting the old account, or using incognito to get the plan added to your cart and then logging in to check out with the plan deal... I have Xfinity Mobile and Internet. The Xfinity Mobile service requires you have Xfinity home internet to get each line for $30, and if you don't have their internet service each mobile line is an additional $30/month tacked on.

So does doing this have any effect on your mobile plan or cost if you get a new account number?

Well. I finally had some luck today. The agent I chatted with in xfinity app set up a new account for me with the $50 price lock. I added my xfi modem to the new account and it is running. He said he would schedule a call with retention to cancel my old account within a week.

I didn't want to wait a week, so I logged into my old account on the app and saw my modem was disconnected. I requested a callback for cancellation and canceled my old service, providing them with the last 4 digits of my old account for confirmation.

Hopefully I don't have to call xfinity for another 5 years.

test it on a wire connection. You need to configure wifi properly to get this speed. In addition, not all services let you download at 1gig speed. For example I have slow speed downloading files/photos from google, Steam on the other hand gives me full 1gbs

I was not getting 140Mbs down, only 30. Had to chat with Xfinity, and their support in India was giving me all type of BS trying to sell me some of their equipment until I questioned their competence. they finally flipped some flag on their end and I was getting 140

To get 1Gb you need to make sure your modem can support it. In addition, I learned that most of the services do not let you download at 1gb speed anyway, so it only makes sense if multiple people are downloading things in parallel.

Overall, I have not noticed faster speeds, only few services like Steam game downloads saturated the bandwidth.

For me, unlimited data was a selling point. I was constantly barely over the 1.2Tb threshold they had
