Cancel current plan and open new account under another household member. Been doing it this way for over a decade. Last I knew they consider each individual a new account holder after 6 months of not being a current customer.

It's not fiber if it runs over coaxial cable; the fiber only goes into your neighborhood, then is split and wired into the houses from wherever the fiber node is via coaxial cable. Coaxial cable is susceptible to weather and network load issues depending on how many are using it, so it's very likely the upload will never be symmetrical and most likely incredibly slow in comparison to the download speeds. It's a hybrid approach to save them money while still trying to market as it being fiber.

I just want faster uploads. I paid for 1200 down and 40 up. I own my own modem which is the latest fastest you could get. I hear in some places Comcast offers 200 up but it's still not in my area. Try uploading the GoPro 5K video anywhere YouTube or any other stores and it takes forever. Downloads are great but I need uploads and FiOS and other fiber optic is not close enough to my neighborhood yet they're a mile down the road but who knows when I'll see it

DO NOT DO THIS. I REPEAT. do not do this lol. I did this and u know what they did? i told them i made a mistake and told them to cancel the new account. later on i got a call from a collection agency about that new account because bills haven't been paid. Before that, i called them at least 3 different times to cancel that account. On top of that it creates issues with the account in general where u have to go to the physical store to get stuff done to the account manually.

FWIW, I started with a chat with the Xfinity Assistant bot, eventually telling it I wanted to chat with an agent about a billing question. I told the human rep that we had an offer for fiber internet from a regional competitor and asked if we could get the new-customers-only 500mbps $45/5 year deal as an incentive to keep us with Xfinity. They didn't really push back before giving us the deal. They wanted to activate the mobile line, which we have no intention of using. I told them I would activate later, got some pushback, ultimately said we needed time to decide which line to port in and they dropped the matter. They claimed the plan comes with 12 months free of their NOW TV service, after which they charge you $20 per month unless you cancel. We will not be using that, but so far at 3 hours after the change their site claims we don't have NOW services--something to keep an eye on. Otherwise it was relatively straightforward. We're not newer customers, having had Xfinity service at this house for eight years.

I was platinum rewards member and when the same deal surfaced few months ago, I took a risk and opened a 2nd connection on the same account(same address) with the new 5 price guarantee offer. Activated the new connection and waited for a week to make sure there were no problems then disconnected the 1st connection and to my surprise I retained my Platinum rewards status along with new offer. Has been about 5 months now

I was able to call in and get this deal. It worked out to $51.14 after tax. The key seemed to be telling them I got an offer from a local fiber company. The moment I mentioned that, there was zero pushback. The rep made a weak attempt to get me to sign up for a phone, but I kindly said no. He left it at that. Got the email, everything lined up, including the wording the deal was good for 60 months, and that was it.

I have an existing account with them with a 1 year free mobile line that I actually don't need. So I plan to create a new account under my wife and get the deal. Now the question I have is that do I need to first cancel my mobile line with them or the mobile line gets cancelled on its own when I make the switch to new account?
