Does this require hardware installation? I yanked out all the xfinity/comcast wiring years ago and have been using t-mobile home internet, which as you know, only requires plugging a device that transmits wifi throughout the house.

This seems potentially problematic as 50gb is not too much given all the streaming that is done these days...

"After 50 GBs, data may be slowed during network congestion"

That's for mobile internet and not home internet.

I was platinum rewards member and when the same deal surfaced few months ago, I took a risk and opened a 2nd connection on the same account(same address) with the new 5 price guarantee offer. Activated the new connection and waited for a week to make sure there were no problems then disconnected the 1st connection and to my surprise I retained my Platinum rewards status along with new offer. Has been about 5 months now
You used your same name/ account info that's on your current account and created a new Comcast account?

Is that even possible? How did you do that? And doesn't that mean you'll have 2 accounts in your name and won't the cust serv see that?

I called cancelation and asked about what deals are available because I want to cancel. They gave me this deal so I signed up. They turned it on immediately and after a minute of no internet, it was on with the new limits. I went from 400Mbps at $35 a month expiring at the end of the month to 300Mbps at $40 a month and my Peacock remained active. I kept all my existing equipment and did not have to do anything else. I could have waited 2 more weeks before doing this and it would have saved me $2.50.

And your Platinum status just automatifally carried over to your new acct., or did you have to wait?

And by doing this method, you had a brand new account number, correct?

plan includes modem, no data caps, and mobile line. I signed up for new service with the same name and phone number. xfinity recognized the old account and created a new account with the 1gb promo rate under the same name and phone. you can have multiple accounts under a single address/name/phone. after the new device is activated I'll cancel the old account.

Did you use the same email address/password from your old/current account to create your new account to log into? That actually worked?

Also, did your rewards status tier transfer automatically? I'm currently Platinum status and would like to keep that tier.

yes, same name/birthday and phone. i selected "No, I am moving here as a new customer", and then it recognized the name and phone. theyll send you a verification text to your phone. Xfinity just adds a new profile for the 2nd account under your existing login. The old and new account show as 2 separate accounts. Im still diamond status.

I won't cancel the original 2Gb profile until the new 1Gb profile is active and tested. I'm going from $100/mo to $50 but lower speed which I probably don't need. No gamers in this household, just youtubetv, wfh, bunch of mobiles and tablets

Yes my Platinum status remained active and you are correct for a time you will see two account numbers linked to your Xfinity login. Once new line is activated, wait for a week or so and then raise request to cancel the old account number. Again, I was surprised this worked but it may or may not work for you. You can definitely try if you are willing to take that risk
