I called cancelation and asked about what deals are available because I want to cancel. They gave me this deal so I signed up. They turned it on immediately and after a minute of no internet, it was on with the new limits. I went from 400Mbps at $35 a month expiring at the end of the month to 300Mbps at $40 a month and my Peacock remained active. I kept all my existing equipment and did not have to do anything else. I could have waited 2 more weeks before doing this and it would have saved me $2.50.
They offered the same thing to me but they were unable to give 5 year price guarantee like for the new connections, it was only good for a year

Called twice, 1st foreign fella only offered $90 a month, 2nd foreign fella time offered $70 a month. I cancelled on that call ) long process on the phone). I then requested a callback the next day using the online help. I received a call from a us based person who asked what I needed to stay, and I said the 5 year $50. They created a new account, transferred my existing account to that, and gave me the $50 for 5 promo with peacock.

So as others have mentioned, it seems that you need a us-based person to gain access to the deal. Otherwise you probably have to completely cancel and manually setup a new account. Which may be easier,I'm not sure. I was worried cause I got a grace period after cancelling, and wasn't sure if I could setup a new account immediately due to that.

Was offered twice by non-US person. You need to talk to someone in retention. To get there, you need to say you want to cancel your service. Normal support cannot give you that offer.

I "moved" to my same address to get the previous $50 1G deal. I was using my own modem and opted for theirs for the new account. Everything went smooth except the confirmation email indicated they would cancel the original account. They didn't and I ended up with a month that I had to pay for both. Did a chat to cancel that account and tried to get a refund for the doubled up portion but no dice.

I did somehow end up with free Disney+ / Hulu as well as the Peacock. And a "free year" of mobile which I haven't activated.

note about the "free" wireless. Its $25 to activate and after the first year, its $50/yr afterwards. Not so free

Yes my Platinum status remained active and you are correct for a time you will see two account numbers linked to your Xfinity login. Once new line is activated, wait for a week or so and then raise request to cancel the old account number. Again, I was surprised this worked but it may or may not work for you. You can definitely try if you are willing to take that risk
One thing I read is that you'll lose all the movies that you've "purchased" through Comcast because of the new account. I have about 30+ movies that I've acquired free from Comcast over the years and it looks like I'll lose those because the same account login was used doing this method and it will supercede and attach to the new account (that was just made) instead of the old account.

So that means when you log into your Xfinity Stream app with your same credentials, it will be the all new account that it links and this you'll lose any movies from the previous account.

Did that happen to you as well?

You're right on the money. But be aware, even some fiber optic providers, bring fiber up to a main branch and then break it down to coax inside the residence.
Right, Xfinity being the one in my area that I know of. I ended up going with Summit for $10 more monthly to have over 1 gbps up and down (verified) with fiber all the way to the house, then just ethernet from the fiber gateway to the router.

it's not always that simple, cause i fully cancelled my account with support but never got pushed to retention. I had to request a call back through the site after fully cancelling, and only then did it seem I got someone in retention. so I dunno what the magic phrase is, but saying im cancelling certainly didn't do it for me

When I called the main number, there was a voice AI recognition and it asked me what the call was about. I simply said "cancel service" and it routed me to a person. I asked them if they were in the retention department and they said yes. If they had said no, I would have said please connect me with the cancelation/retention department.

I just activated my 2nd account. Renamed the SSID the same as the old modem and used the same password. Transparent move. All my devices accessed it without issue.

I got a callback to cancel my original account and told them I had 2 accounts at the same location and needed to cancel the old account. They proceeded to cancel it without issue or pushback about having the 2nd account. dropped off the old modem as well. my status is still diamond. my free top gun and independence day purchases show up on my iPhone but not my Android phone

1080 youtube streaming is struggling. it's going to take some time getting use to the downgrade but hey it's a $50/mo savings over 2gig pipe

I'm an existing customer, and I had a smooth, zero fuss, transition to this plan through their customer support chat. It seems like it might depend on the rep you speak with.

Family has internet only 2nd account for a rental property and xfinity security cameras in the next city over. So option of canceling and starting again might not be ideal and be hassle. They pay $80/month for 5 cameras 24/7 service

50 Mbps easily covers two 4K HDR streams running at once: 25 Mbps each, with room to spare.

As for 300 Mbps struggling? You'd need about 60 people simultaneously streaming 1080p before it starts struggling. And if you've got 60 people living under one roof, WiFi speed is not your biggest problem.

Meanwhile, some guy living alone is out here paying for gig speeds like he's hosting Netflix's entire server farm from his living room.
