Cancel current plan and open new account under another household member. Been doing it this way for over a decade. Last I knew they consider each individual a new account holder after 6 months of not being a current customer.

It's not fiber if it runs over coaxial cable; the fiber only goes into your neighborhood, then is split and wired into the houses from wherever the fiber node is via coaxial cable. Coaxial cable is susceptible to weather and network load issues depending on how many are using it, so it's very likely the upload will never be symmetrical and most likely incredibly slow in comparison to the download speeds. It's a hybrid approach to save them money while still trying to market as it being fiber.

Do you need to have fiber run to your house? I've held off on fiber because I saw how they destroyed my neighbors' yards with their trenching, and I don't want to deal with that. Also, does the year of free phone service clock start ticking immediately, or can you activate it, say, 8 months into your plan, and get a year from that point?

Not necessarily. It depends on your location.In DC and Maryland, much has been upgraded to newer DOCSIS standards and 400 down/400 up is common.

There is no term or yearly increases/haggling. That's not to say they couldn't raise prices tomorrow. FIVE years price-lock on this deal is tempting.

I haven't confirmed, but I suspect you could swap between Xfinity Now and regular Xfinity to reset your "New Customer" pricing.
I also switched to Xfinity Now about a month ago. For $30/month, taxes included, it's been solid. I put the provided router into bridge mode and connected it to my Eero system. Been working great. I don't know, 100Mbps is plenty for me and my household's needs.

Oh damn you're right. I'm connected to the airport WiFi with my mobile and I have no issues streaming, but I have so many issues at home. even the hotel Wi-Fi is smoother. I'm going to have to look into this.

Update. Everything is working fine. Probably needed cache to expire or something. Had to split the 2.4 and 5 ghz bands to support 2.4 ghz only devices. Combined bands, my phone and 2.4 device ended up on different bands. Can't force the phone to 2.4. I need the phone and device both on 2.4 to configure the device. Probably the same issue with the Tesla wall charger which is 2.4 only.

Cancelled my old plan & used wife's name/bank on new account. Took maybe 5 minutes to deactivate & switch modem. Did it for the 5yr price lock, worth it enough to go through hassle.

Aunt had Comcast(business) for the restaurants wifi. Jaw dropped when I saw that she was paying $200+ for 75mb....

She "upgraded" it paying $250 for 300mb and I had no words. Comcast sucks on top of having slow coax and claiming they could do fiber...

ATT rep had dropped by giving me a way better offer for 1g fiber for business, paid for my contract drop out fee, and got the $500 visa all for $160/mo

After adding the plan to cart, do not check out immediately, wait some time it will pop up to add $ mastercard offer. I am in IL, it was $50, I heard it is $200 in CA. you can also go through cB site; I received 300 and 225 in 2 orders using cxxshopping.

I chatted briefly with them because I a sick to death of t-mobile raising prices. The first thing they said was $100 installation fee and $25 mobile activation fee. Brought back PTSD of all the Comcast b.s. I've have lived through and I closed the chat unceremoniously.
