I mistakenly bought this last time. It's nowhere near as nice as the X4 (no L) model. The lcd is pretty bad, the controls are super annoying, and it only heats to 70C, so if you plan on using anything other than PLA or PETg it won't dry as well (as the 85C X4)

I'm just getting into 3d printing. If I'm mainly just using PLA, would you consider this to be fine or something else like the Sunlu S4?

Tempting, but looking for a deal on another X4 (no L), have one already and they're really nice. Worth the upcharge IMHO

I have this along with the X4 (plus a few other dryers I've had including the S4). This will work perfect for PLA, PETG or TPU to name a few. The benefit this has over the S4 is that it has independent heating chambers, so for example you can dry PLA on one side and PETG or TPU on the other at their needed drying temperatures. The S4 Pro which Sunlu recently released I believe has independent heating chambers and can go up to 85 degrees. If you plan on drying engineering filament, while you technically could dry it in this X4L, you'd need to dry it for a much longer time than if you have a dryer than can hit 85 degrees and I'd recommend a dryer that can reach higher temps than this one for engineering filament.

Also, fwiw, the one I bought from this same listing came brand new.

It also dries ABS and ASA just fine.

Bad info. It dries everything fine. I have 4 spools of ABS in one right now.

I had purchased this a while back and within a day or so the left heating unit failed. I contacted them and the default approach seems to be if you're comfortable replacing the module by unscrewing it apart.

It's tricky, but since I was comfortable with it it was straightforward. They actually sent me 2 replacement parts, a guide, checked in part way through, and the replacement part has worked since.

I kind of do like that I have a spare peice now to replace the heating element if it does go bad, and while I wouldn't use my experience as a review, it does feel like at least the team handling openboxes are pretty attentive and patient.

I have a bunch of these on my mini farm. Maybe they aren't amazing but they are so cheap, even when they die I'll probably still use them as a passive drying chamber. Im using the tube grommets to feed directly into my ifs on them. Sometimes they don't heat up fast enough or something and throw an E3 error but I just power cycle them and do it again and it goes away. Overall def worth the money especially if you are moving from pla to petg

They have little rubber grommets out the top and back that you can put Bowden tubes in to run the lines directly to the printer.

Oh I thought you meant something else you added. The grommets in my opinion need a way to lock down the tube.

Ah yea I do pull them out accidentally a lot. I suppose maybe a zip tie with a dab of glue might work...
