FYI my local Target had a few DualShock 4 (v2) controllers on clearance recently for $40.

I'm shocked they still have new ones in stock. I wouldn't trust though if they're open-box.

They were brand new and sealed. I bought a black one for use on PC.

If these were USB-C I'd be all over these. Best controller ergonomically IMO.

Do these work with a ps3? I need a dual shock 3 but too many fake Chinese ones that look like the official ones I don't want to take a chance

These are really easy to convert to USB-C. You can buy the board as a drop in replacement. You just need to file the hole to make it fit.

These are the ones I used [amazon.com] on a thrift store find and they work and fit great.

What's the appeal of these? A lot of people still using their PS4s? Just because they're cheaper than the newer DualSense? Or do they have some kind of performance/build/compatibility advantage I'm unaware of?

I bought one of these refurbs a couple of years ago, and I would have thought it was new in box if I didn't know better. I don't use it much, only for PSX emulation and PS first party games on my PC, but it's still working well.

I added a magnetic USB cable to deal with the micro-usb port. It has a magnetic plug that stays in the controller, and still allows data to the PC.

I can only get it to work wired, though. My computer thinks it connects via Bluetooth, but I don't get any inputs. You can use programs like DS4Windows to emulate an xbox controller, but I'm trying to use it for PS functions, like the touchpad and gyro, which you lose if you emulate an xbox controller. PS first party games detect it as a PS controller when plugged in, but don't see it at all when connected via bluetooth.

I use it for PC and it works great. Only downside I can find is lack of USB-C

They're better controllers IMO than DualSense. More comfortable, better battery life, and cheaper to boot. The input latency via Bluetooth is also extremely low compared to most other controllers. I use it on PC.
