This canned pink salmon is valued as a low cost, high protein pantry staple with nutrition similar to larger salmon and less mercury than chunk light tuna. It works well in salads, salmon cakes, or other recipes with bold sauce, herbs, or spices, and the mild, not very fishy taste is a plus for those uses. The main drawback is flavor, since pink salmon is described as bland and lower grade than sockeye or chinook. It is a practical option when price matters more than rich salmon flavor.

Thailand
Pink salmon is typically caught in the north Pacific, then shipped to Asia for canning, then shipped to the USA for sale.

Pink salmon is the lowest grade commonly used for human consumption. I would only eat Sockeye or Chinook, but to each their own.

Pink salmon has the same nutrition values as the larger salmons, just less flavor and much lower price. That's OK if your recipe has a lot of flavor on its own (sauce/herbs/spices). I think of canned pink salmon as a replacement for canned tuna, which costs about the same but has less healthy sodium and mercury levels.

Thanks. This is a good deal. I got $22.78 - $5.70 (25% coupon) - $3.42 (S&S discount) = $13.66.

No coupon for me. I recently used a similar coupon for Bumble Bee Albacore Tuna so I'm assuming it's the same promo.

I got some canned salmon before and it was absolutely disgusting. It was like the entire fish was ran through a grinder...skin, bones and all and then canned. I couldn't have been any more grossed out .

You need to buy cans like this one that are labeled "boneless and skinless".

I use it in salads with a bit of olive oil and lemon. I like that it doesn't have a very fishy taste
