BTW Ashford also now has the brown version [ashford.com] at the same price.
Authorized dealers have to buy whole collections of watches, sun glass, baseball bats and gloves etc. As the season goes on they can't sell a certain style. However, they are not allowed to sell under a certain price or advertise a heavy discount. Part of what's called IMap or Map certified dealer rules.
So what the authorized dealer does is sells off at cost or bellow cost to clear inventory. The unauthorized dealer sells at what is know as gray market prices.
Jomashop "very reputable" sells gray market watches, ashworth often sells a mix of fashion and sports goods at below map rules.
I missed out on a Hamilton watch at like $150 on Ashworth a while back. Makes me want to throw up. Yes it was authentic just old stock that was sitting around in a warehouse somewhere. The watch is legit worth $300. on the used market.
You are not wrong to wonder or question non authorized dealers. See all the fake crap eBay or Ali. Ashworth is pretty solid choice for a deal. Now you know.
