Read some other threads mentioning this "SIM swap" unlocking "loophole" and I think I get the jist but it would be awesome if anyone can confirm they did it successfully for this deal.

Loopholes do sometimes get fixed after all, and a data point from even a month or two ago may not be 100% guarantee it still works.

Sounds like too many hoops to jump through, and no guarantee that this will work/you can cancel the contract

Says otherwise?
SIM swap unlock is a "loophole" and not officially supported. Seems like it is pretty consistently reliable with some recent data points from other deals, but still ought to have a "YMMV" disclaimer as loopholes do sometimes get fixed.

There is no "contract" per se. You buy the phone on an installment plan and are free to pay it off early if you so desire.

So question here. The iPhone 15 does not have a physical SIM to "swap". How exactly does one "swap" an eSIM?

Not 100% on this, maybe someone can confirm/correct me. For somebody who does not have AT&T...

1) Buy the phone via $8.31/month for 36 months installment plan, and sign up for AT&T service at $60/month + $3.49/month fee. Additionally pay a $35 activation fee. Total charged is about $107 + tax.
2) When the phone gets delivered, turn it on and use it for a few calls, texts, and data.
3) Confirm the phone appears in your AT&T account on their website or app.
4) Pay off the full balance of the installment plan.
5) "SIM Swap" - fuzzy on this. Since there is no physical SIM, do we just transfer the line to a spare unlocked phone, which must support eSIM?
6) proceed with steps 5 and beyond from the wiki post (request the unlock, and when successful, cancel the line for a refund, and use chat support to get the activation fee refunded)

thanks in advance for any info

On AT&T account, you swap with another unlocked phone

The sim swap is just to unlock the phone without paying any activation fees or 1 month of service right? Evidently, you can just pay off the remaining balance of the phone at some point and just cancel the line and unlock the phone..

thanks, i am still a bit fuzzy on exactly how eSIM works in general but did find instructions on AT&T's site...

https://www.att.com/support/artic...KM1001034/

looks like essentially you transfer the line to a spare unlocked phone which also must have eSIM.

If I purchase the phone today and it's scheduled to arrive Monday, am I stuck with the activation fee, or can I do everything today and tomorrow without having the phone in my hands?

Not wrong. I compare this to the cox cable $500 for a 15 pro a few years ago when the 15 was new. But this is not a bad deal if you already have ATT and just want to add another line.

How does this compare with the Pixel 10 deal from Mint?
