When you purchase iphone you'll have att account!

or are you trying to unlock a different phone? ask a friend with att account!
So, currently I don't have an ATT account. Can I take advantage of this deal by buying the iphone online and follow the steps? No port in or prior ATT account needed? Sorry I am a little confused about what is needed

Has anyone ever upgraded through Walmart.com and have the installment plan get stuck in limbo? I've had this happen several times, but as far as I can remember, this has only ever happened with iPhones. I've done upgrades with Samsung phones and didn't have the same problem. I'm not sure if this is just coincidence or not. I've had to file an FCC complaint each time to get them to fix it so I could pay off the phone.

I put in wiki.wiki also has link on iPhone 14 where sim swap was discussed
How come I no longer see the Wiki in SD app? Come to think of it, haven't seen a wiki post in deals in a long time. May be something is blocking it.

Last I heard, SIM swap is still working for ATT. The steps are posted in the wiki but here they are for app viewing etc. Couple of things to note, when you order the phone with ATT a new line is created during the process and there will be an wireless agreement during the process. Make sure to save that document as it has the number given to you, this will come in handy if the phone is lost in transit etc. Your 3 day window to perform SIM swap and cancel the line to get activation fee refunded starts from the time of line creation. Also, after paying it off you can chat and ask for the phone to be unlocked to see if they unlock it for you before trying the SIM swap.
  • After getting the phone and paying it off fully, make some calls/texts and make sure it shows up on ATT account
  • You will need to wait 24 hours or the next day for the unlock portal to sync the pay off information.
  • Transfer the eSIM to an unlocked (or ATT locked) iphone or android. For iphone to iphone you can use iOS transfer eSIM method. For iphone to android, you can first to see if you can generate a QR code for eSIM and then use it on android for transfer. If that fails follow the instructions here https://www.att.com/support/artic...ce=4485850. The important thing here is to make sure you are not provisioning a new eSIM instead you are moving the same eSIM to the other phone.
  • Make some calls with that phone and make sure it shows up on the account now.
  • Now go to ATT.com/device unlock and select non ATT customer and provide imei.
  • Make sure you reply yes to the confirmation email ATT sends
  • Only cancel the account after you are able to unlock.

Some other things to note

ATT will send you a bill with the full amount even after you cancel your account so you have to do couple of things to get rid of charges.

1. When you open the bill in myATT app/att website there will be something called "Don't recognize this fee" under the activation. You can click on it to get rid of a activation fee. This is an instant and automatic credit. Also this works even if you cancelled the account after 3 days.

2. Chat with CS to get rid of rest of the charges. Make sure to not fall for credit in the next bill/adjusted in the next bill, Be polite but persistent that you want charges to be credited now. Bring up the policy if you have to.

what if you don't do the sim swap - can you just wait 61 days and unlock it?

Yes and pay 2month of service & activation fee, $450ish + tax.

Most just want the phone at $300 + tax.

Why would you get that phone that only has 1 camera? Unless you don't take wide angle pictures and care about an all day battery. Then sure...
