Travelpro Platinum Elite Hardside 21 inch is a polished carry on with a strong price for the brand, especially for travelers who want a hard shell option with a laptop pocket. The bag is also described as a legacy Platinum model, and registration with proof of purchase is needed to pursue warranty coverage. The main cautions are size and durability concerns, since the 21 inch can be too large for strict international or European budget airline limits, and multiple arrivals were reported cracked near the top corners despite intact shipping boxes. A solid fit if the size works and you inspect it closely on arrival.

  • Travelers who want a hard-shell carry-on for domestic trips, because the 21-inch size fits standard overhead bins better than stricter international limits.

  • Owners who register luggage promptly, because Travelpro's added coverage can include airline damage repair and shipping costs for the first five years.

  • Shoppers comparing premium luggage warranties, because Travelpro can replace a retired model with a current equivalent size when a covered claim is approved.

  • Buyers who expect a dependable lifetime warranty, because coverage and parts support can be disputed or unavailable.

  • Travelers who need a bag that survives rough handling, because cracks appeared on arrival in multiple reports.

  • International flyers on strict European airlines, because the 21-inch size can be too large and may need to be checked.

I thought all TravelPro Platinum Elite luggages have lifetime warranty. Since this is a carry on that you handle yourself, how do you prove that it's the airline's fault?
You do know airlines check carry ons, if necessary right? If you're unfortunate enough to be last group to board or the FAs claim they have no space, your bags are going to get checked. Also to note, if you're flying on regional jets like rjs, or crjs... you will hate check your bags as the overhead cabins aren't large enough to accommodate most normal sized carry ons.

This does not apply to the platinum elite line. You need to read. Only other company with an even better warranty is briggs and riley.
Also never check your carry on. It will last forever. The baggage handlers are often subcontractors or just bad employees. They don't care about your bag at all.

For anyone wondering I was able to register my bag for the warranty. Doesn't guarantee they will honor it but it's a good first step.

Just got my Travelpro hardside carry-on. It's cracked in two different places near the top. Going back to Woot ASAP.

If you ordered one make sure to look it over closely!

I took another look at mine and it's also cracked on all 4 corners up top. I wonder what the heck happened? My shipping box was fine.

for anyone else who received this, does it seem like it's the 20-inch version and not the 21-inch version?

Did anyone find the style number to register for the warranty at TravelPro? I looked for a tag inside, but other than the designed in the USA, there is no style number where there should be.
