I prefer the soft side on the Platinum series, but this is a pretty decent deal, at least for the gray one. I would also add that per some commenters on the last TravelPro woot sale, many said that TravelPro will not honor any warranty on luggage that comes from woot (not sure how they would prove it though).

Woot also has the 20" version, which some folks say works fine on European budget airlines that are strict about carry-on sizes. The 21" is probably too big and you might have to check it.

I called TravelPro about the warranty and was told they don't care where you get it as long as you register it and have the proof of purchase.

He also told me that my platinum magna 2 carry-on is a retired model, but since it has the lifetime warranty, if I ever make a claim for damage they will replace it with a current equivalent model (i.e. platinum elite currently) and give me the option to choose which of the available sizes I want.

I got the medium checked hardside bag from this deal even though I was looking for a softside bag, but no way can I beat the $190 price.

(people on reddit are saying the opposite about them honoring warranties, so I guess it's a risk I'm willing to take for such a low price for a high quality bag regardless. I got my magna 2 from amazon resale in Used-Mint condition for like $125 in 2018 and so I'll consider them both a risk I'm willing to take. Those same threads are saying they won't even honor Amazon purchases, so who knows...)

This one look just like my old Ricardo Beverly Hills carry-on LOL

I would probably use it until it falls apart.. Bought it for $49.99 plus tax in TJ Maxx back in 2016, may be 2017.. One of the best investments i ever made.

You can still find Ricardos for less the $100 bucks these days.

Great deal. If I don't have 2 new carry-ons from Level8 and Uprise I'd get one with front pocket. Half the value of TravelPro is the warranty repair and replacement. Actual hardware is ~$100 in Asia but you don't get the warranty

No. TP bags look fancy but aren't any better and the warranty is garbage. That $30 bag will last 10 trips and then you can replace it. For the same price as TP bags you get 50 to 60 airline trips with cheap bags by just buying new ones when old ones die. TP bags won't last 50-60 trips and the warranty is worthless

But, also, the HARD bags have a restrictive 5 year warranty if registered whereas the soft sided bags have the lifetime. They know the hard sided bags are gonna break when they get smooshed and don't wanna cover them. If you want the best warranty, get a soft sided bag if you can find it at a discount.

The TSA-zipper puller of my TP 25-inch got lost (which is a safety feature of the luggage) on a trip during the baggage handling by the airline. I contacted TravelPro and they replied that the less than 5 year old bag has been discontinued and parts not available and sent me a 15% off coupon valid on their overpriced website to buy a new luggage.

Not buying another one again.

Almost all luggage these days is plastic junk made in China or Thailand. It's disposable. The only kinds that will last are American-made brands like Red Oxx but it's very difficult to find a hard sided suitcase.

I thought all TravelPro Platinum Elite luggages have lifetime warranty. Since this is a carry on that you handle yourself, how do you prove that it's the airline's fault?

Their lifetime warranty only applies to the platinum elite model.

This does not apply to the platinum elite line. You need to read. Only other company with an even better warranty is briggs and riley.
