Last I heard, SIM swap is still working for ATT. The steps are posted in the wiki but here they are for app viewing etc. Couple of things to note, when you order the phone with ATT a new line is created during the process and there will be an wireless agreement during the process. Make sure to save that document as it has the number given to you, this will come in handy if the phone is lost in transit etc.

Your 3 day window to perform SIM swap and cancel the line to get activation fee refunded starts from the time of line creation. Also, after paying it off you can chat and ask for the phone to be unlocked to see if they unlock it for you before trying the SIM swap.
  • After getting the phone and paying it off fully, make some calls/texts and make sure it shows up on ATT account
  • You will need to wait 24 hours or the next day for the unlock portal to sync the pay off information.
  • Transfer the eSIM to an unlocked (or ATT locked) iphone or android. For iphone to iphone you can use iOS transfer eSIM method. For iphone to android, you can first to see if you can generate a QR code for eSIM and then use it on android for transfer. If that fails follow the instructions here https://www.att.com/support/artic...ce=4485850. The important thing here is to make sure you are not provisioning a new eSIM instead you are moving the same eSIM to the other phone.
  • Make some calls with that phone and make sure it shows up on the account now.
  • Now go to ATT.com/device unlock and select non ATT customer and provide imei.
  • Make sure you reply yes to the confirmation email ATT sends
  • Only cancel the account after you are able to unlock.

Some other things to note

ATT will send you a bill with the full amount even after you cancel your account so you have to do couple of things to get rid of charges.
  1. When you open the bill in myATT app/att website there will be something called "Don't recognize this fee" under the activation. You can click on it to get rid of a activation fee. This is an instant and automatic credit. Also this works even if you cancelled the account after 3 days.
  2. Chat with CS to get rid of rest of the charges. Make sure to not fall for credit in the next bill/adjusted in the next bill, Be polite but persistent that you want charges to be credited now. Bring up the policy if you have to.

Anyone get an issue with processing your application when opening a new account online? Is there something I can do or do I need to go in store?

Edit: I tried a new line instead and it just kicks me out after loading for a bit.

Guess this deal is in store only for me, kinda sucks.

Edit2: I figured it out. The website isn't updating. Opening the a shows that it's OOS.
Dead until restock

I got the same. AT&T said it's likely Walmart couldn't verify ID and said to try in store

Even though I don't need this iPhone, I'm really considering it since I may take advantage of using the camera for YouTube purposes while having the opportunity to repurpose this phone to use w/ another network aside from AT&T.

I was about to jump on this deal and found the iPhone 15 Pro w/ 256GB of storage for the same $8.31 for 36 months I decided to it was too good to pass up. I didn't have an AT&T account (a current one at least), but I totally forgot to get the new wireless number before finishing checkout. I guess I'll just have to wait until it comes now?

It was gone by the time I posted this, minutes after ordering. It's in pending, just dumb luck I guess. I didn't see any mentions of it anywhere, I was just seeing if anything else was available.

Nope. Cancel asap once paid off. Otherwise I think lowest plan is around $60
