Any idea on if this is a bad deal because only the single battery? Just wondering if it's better to get the deals with two batteries so each can be used less to maintain longevity?

Put another way, if you buy a second battery with this deal, it seems like overall it is a worse outcome than getting the deal with two batteries included?

I'd rather have a 6Ah battery that I drain to 20%, rather than 2-3 2Ah batteries I drain to 0% and put straight to a charger so it's ready for another round.
These larger batteries are also good for those who will end up getting a snow blower, too...or even to complement the 2.5Ah batteries that seem to come with every small tool deal like string trimmers and chainsaws and leaf blowers.

In either case, you're getting the mower for "free" if you even value the batteries at $65/Ah, which is the going rate in my eyes. You can find 2.5Ah battery deals for $100, but either way, this is a great deal.

You can buy a Genuine Ego 6.0 AH battery brand new on ebay for $200, so you are not getting the mower "for free".

It seems like a decent deal considering that and Ego brand 6ah battery by itself, no charger is $389 on Amazon. I am tempted - but I just realized that it is not self propelled...

Is that true now? My 20" runs on 2.5Ah, but it's one of the, like, 10-year-old models.

My neighbor's 800 series mower ran well on my 4Ah battery. I tried my 2.5Ah battery too, it worked for awhile but at two bars it went into the 5 red bars state (critical error). Later it normalized, I guess it overheated and I would not push any further. BTW they are selling the mower (the 800 series one) with 4 Ah batteries and I presume they would not sell it if it was not supported.

Depends on the model. Some draw more initial power due to higher torque. 5ah typically will only last about 20-30mins of run time. Plus they will overheat easily on mowers. I'd recommend 7.5ah at minimum for any lawn that takes 30+ mins to mow typically.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking of upgrading my old Ego mower, but it sounds like the newer ones eat a lot more power than my old guy. That said, my 2.5Ah runs nearly my whole front yard, and I'm on 1/2 acre. But I have 5Ah and maybe even a 6Ah batteries when I bought my snowblower. Hmm, decisions.

I upgraded to the 800 series with a 10ah battery. I'd say I would have 1/2 the battery left when mowing front and back, which gives me ample room for mulching or taller grass. I use self propel 1/3 of the time because I have a slight incline, it just helps me a bit. I wouldn't use it all the time because that will drain it considerably. Plus more wear and tear on the wheels. I also use it to mow a family members house that has a slightly larger yard and they have the sidewalk area. It drains my 10ah all the way. But I need that higher torque on their lawn because they got so many weeds and random crud. In the end, you have to find the mower that fits you right. There's so many models and batteries. It really depends on your use case. I personally rather have the extra power and larger battery, so I don't have to deal with issues of having a weak mower in the long run or don't plan to replace the mower in the far future.

The LM2114 runs on smaller alternatives: 2.5Ah, 4.0Ah, or 5.0Ah 56V batteries

Given the 2.5Ah battery page clearly says "The EGO POWER+ 56-Volt 2.5Ah battery uses industry-leading ARC-Lithium technology to deliver Power Beyond Belief and is compatible with all EGO outdoor power equipment." I would say that you're clearly wrong
