The 4TB 990 EVO Plus stands out as a very fast, cool running NVMe for big storage upgrades, gaming, and everyday use. It is described as a strong fit for thin laptops and external enclosures, and HMB based performance is said to be close to DRAM drives for normal workloads while using less power and heat. The main caveat is that it lacks onboard DRAM, so sustained writes and PS5 use may not be ideal. The deal price also drew attention because 4TB SSD pricing has been far higher lately, making this feel like a rare capacity play.

I agree. I just purchased, with delayed shipping. I've had my eye on this for a while... at 4TB this is ridiculously wrong pricing. I am worried about counterfeit. There's a tool to test that, right?
I thought about delayed shipping but decided against it in case they cancel. Mine already shipped.

4TB non-NAS, non-Video SATA barracudas are $190. Kinda nuts in comparison.

I only bought this due to fomo, ffs. I wasn't specifically thinking I needed more storage.

Maybe, but it could still be another year or two before prices normalize to a more reasonable level.

Yes it's good. For gaming and casual use you will not notice the difference between this and higher-end PCIE4 drives or even PCIE5.

It is in today's market. You can easily flip it for at least $400.

Unfortunately. Check back in a little bit. They refreshed stock earlier when they went OOS.

I feel like there's been quite a few decent deals the past two months. NVME drives have mostly been exempt, but I do find it odd. Retail saw prices jump before anyone else. And I wonder if retail is seeing the collapse of these ponzi scheme's before anyone else. It'd be nice if they'd reached a saturation point on their sham deals and it was all starting to collapse. I know Samsung just announced they expect issues for years to come, but that's exactly what you'd say if you were desperately trying to keep the sham from blowing up. And, yes, this is mostly a cartel driven problem. The way they've structured these deals is comical.
