I know they're having some controversies.... you'll have to look up how to block the software from your network/pc from downloading.

I purchased this as an Excellent Open Box last Winter and have loved the monitor. It is fantastic for gaming and I would say it is average for text reading. I've been able to get text looking good after a bunch of tweaks to my OS. Don't let the 1440p scare you, especially if you are using this to game. At this price it's a steal for a curved 45" OLED 240hz gaming monitor.

How does this compare to a 49" monitor? I was debating selling mine to get something different

is it a 32x9 super ultrawide?

Do you console game at all? you'll have MUCH more space for 16x9 gaming with the 45" (image 2)

800R curve, I'd think it's not so good if you want to use it for work. I was going to buy the new Dell Alienware AW3426DW, but maybe this LG at this price might just do.

I went from a 49 to 39, and height wise so much better for gaming. The 49 is immersive because how long it is, but you dont realize how much vertical space you lose. I can only imagine the 45 is amazing. But like OP mentioned, if its for work only, keep the 49, the text on my 39 is ehhh and its higher ppi than the 45

I snagged one of the 5k2k versions of this open box from Best buy for $850 a few weeks ago and can say, it is so very immersive.

Care to explain or should we just look it up ourselves?

800R curve. If you have a really big head you can just strap this to your face.

Why not link the source, instead of some clickbait rag like the Verge?

Buying an open box monitor is a bad idea. You don't know how the previous person treated it. Could have abused and banged up the monitor all over the place without any dents or scratches.

Main reason: most people don't have time to watch a 30 minute video when an article takes about 2 minutes to read.
Minor secondary reason: I'm not a fan of Gamers Nexus.

To each their own, but... the MSI 49" might be the better play.

New (not open box) for the same price for "excellent".
Higher resolution.
Wider corner to corner (different aspect ratio, but...)

EDIT: I see the Samsung is higher refresh rate... so that's a plus for the Samsung.
