Whataburger still gets credit for its cheeseburgers and for easy app ordering that can keep food hot until pickup. The deal angle also stands out because coupons and survey redemptions are where the value seems to be now, especially for repeat free burger offers. The main knocks are declining quality and consistency, with some locations described as hit or miss, buns that taste off, and prices that feel less worthwhile after ownership changes. It reads like a chain that can still hit when the location is right, but the value depends heavily on the deal and the store.

I don't see the bogo burger on the app yet. Maybe it won't appear until 11am?

Add me to the "PE is choking the life out of Whataburger" camp, but the decline in quality/consistency began before the sellout.

If you're lucky enough to be near one with good local management, it can still be a top tier fast food burger. But that's a big "if." Around me they just move the one really good manager every few months to the current worst location so none ever quite fails completely, but none ever stays good once she moves again, either.

Did it show up for you? I don't see it in rewards, offers, or the main page.

Exactly this. Everything private equity buys gets wrecked. Prices go up and value goes down. They squeeze every dollar they can out of the company and then sell it.
I'm a principal in a private equity firm. We do tend to create value for the investors which are often pension funds (yes the same pension funds that pay out pensions for teachers and govt employees) and we only keep 20% of the profits for ourselves. Our main goal is to generate large returns for institutional investors

We recently got these in my State. I know people in Texas love Whataburger like a religion, but I don't know what the big deal is. I honestly found them mediocre. Maybe there's a regional difference?

Whataburger used to be great. They should name it as Justaburger now.

They are overhyped to begin with but since they got bought by private equity its been pretty much miD
Not only mid, but they make me sick now. Whatever they changed, can't eat the buns, they make feel like I ate battery acid. Private Equity ruins everything. Investment bros don't care about your health, they just wanna make their money.
