No numpad? Do people just not use the numpad anymore?

I think many users are either gamers or just want the slim/clean look, claiming some of their desk space back. Not everyone needs it for data entry.

Why waste desk space when you already have number keys across the top?

Sheer speed of a number pad.

At home, I can get by with just the number row.... but at work, I'm working with a lot of numbers... can't beat the quickness of a number pad. I tried using the number row exclusively at work for a few months and it never quite felt right... Almost like brushing your teeth with your off hand.

At home, if I need to use a numpad I'll bust out an actual calculator. At work your fringe case that requires high speed numerical input obviously needs a numpad, but not everyone needs that. You can get separate numpads for these things. I'm an ex proof machine operator so I know exactly how fast data entry can get, and I still don't need a numpad - literally never, either for work these days or home.
