Wondering the same thing, if i can activate phone 1 in january 2027 and phone 2 in january 2028
Tracfone PayGo plans (like is included with these phones) stack. As long as you intend to use the the plans on the same line, you don't have to wait until your service days are running out. You can activate it with a transfer to an existing line, and both remaining units & the new units, and service days, from the phone will add together.
Although there is no reason to wait in that circumstance, other than qualifying for unlocking, Tracfone bundles have traditionally had a year or more to activate and keep the bundled plan. (A year has been a previous official answer, but many people have had no problems even after several years. )
If you want both phones to unlock, waiting over 365 days to activate the second will eventually qualify both phones for unlocking.

Might work as a 'burner phone' when you travel through airports if you don't want them snooping through your actual phone, right?

Can you request a phone number be assigned to you or do you have to port in one?
Tracfone will issue you a new number, based on the zip code you tell them the phone will be primarily used in.

someone mentioned in this thread that if you activate the new phone before 60 days of your current service's ending date you may lose all existing balances? also say the existing service's ending date is 2027 Jan 1st, and you harvest the new service today, will the combined service's ending date become today's date + 1 year?

Harvesting is still a thing? Figured they closed that down like everything else that was good.
They will simply just wipe out your old balance

IMO a couple of more interesting items they have on sale on their eBay store arehttps://www.ebay.com/itm/287503823650 - $60 365 day plan. This is probably most useful for unlocking any TF phone after 1 year of activation.https://www.ebay.com/itm/287505854589 - Moto G Stylus 5G 2024 w/ 1 year plan, maybe the best phone per dollar device they have on sale that comes with a future unlock dateFor the phone itself, the A03 is not terribly useful as a daily driver. Maybe only for calls and texts. A phone of last resort. Apps will be laggy. Used one myself a few years back.
No TF is worth $60 to unlock

Every time you use TracFone there is a very high chance that they will zero out your balance. They also zero it out if you don't use it

You have to use at least every 6 months for smart phones, 1 year for flips. It's in the T&C (that no one ever reads).
Best to just use every few months, it's not so hard to set yourself a reminder if you need one.

Never lost my balance over the years from harvesting. Just take the usual precautions. And it can happen randomly for no reason at all, usually they get restored from anecdotal reports.

I don't think it works like that. The plan is tied to the specific IMEI, in this case the A03. You must activate that IMEI even if you later transfer the service to another locked TF phone. If you just transfer service and do not actually do paid activation, this doesn't meet the eligibility for unlock. I know this because this was a change they made back in 2025 while the unlock period was only 2 months. I transferred service from phone A to phone B and the unlock did not happen on B, but A did since the plan was paid for on A.

When I say it's useful for unlock, I mean that sometimes you'll see a higher end device locked to TF being sold for cheap, and the $60 plan can be used to unlock it in a year if you're willing to wait that long.
Interesting, if you have experienced this then I can't argue with that. Honestly I haven't tried to really unlock anything as I use tracfone anyway, just assumed it was like other carriers and they only care about service activation length. I suppose I could check this since that would mean all my harvested phones would be unlocked so long as the service was on something. I rarely buy a tracfone without a year service attached.
