!!! DO NOT TRY TO HARVEST YOUR TRACFONE MIN/TEXT/DATA BY TEXTING TRANSFER TO 611611 !!!

Moderators may want to pin this comment at the top of this thread to warn Slickdeals users from losing their Tracfone service (min/text/data) when they're trying to harvest service from new plans.

There is another pinned post at the top by energyx on Aug 6, 2026 10:25 AM that recommends texting TRANSFER to 611611, but this is a really bad idea. I don't know if this has worked for any of the people that liked that post, but this has failed for me in the past.

Texting TRANSFER to 611611 will cause you to lose your existing Tracfone service (min/text/data), and possibly be stuck in a failed port-in limbo, which would require account owners to call a Tracfone agent for assistance with the port-in.

Additionally, your Tracfone service (min/text/data) will disappear from your online account, and will probably be gone forever.

Good luck wasting your time with Tracfone's call center minions who are only trained to follow their regurgitated scripts.

If you want to harvest the Tracfone service (min/text/data) from a new plan, by combining it with your existing service (min/text/data) while keeping the same phone number, then follow the instructions in the post below:

https://www.reddit.com/r/TracFone...vice_to_a/

I've followed the instructions in that post to successfully harvest minutes from new plans and add them to my plan with no problems.

yeah I did TRANSFER and worked wonderfully. No issues. BUT airtime was not included. Both phones get activated using transfer without issues.

foks who want to use the transfer option may find everything works fines but no one year airtime get added on the account. Thats when your out of luck and headed for the ebay return.

My final goal was airtime. TF CS confirmed no airtime was attached to the phones on their system. TF cannot help, only verizon value ebay store can handle the return.

The Tracfone rep I spoke with before told me that by texting TRANSFER to 611611, you are initiating a port-out/port-in process, even though you're porting out from Tracfone and porting-in to Tracfone. This causes your previous min/text/data to be wiped out during this port-out/port-in process, while transferring your phone number from one Tracfone account to another Tracfone account, which may have some min/text/data bundled with it, as is the case with the Samsung phones in this Slickdeals listing.

This texting TRANSFER to 611611 process does NOT work for harvesting and combining min/text/data into the same account, which is what I wanted to point out. At least it did not work for me before. Maybe this has changed and it works differently now, but I'm not spending any time and money to find out.

Did everyone receive your phones in the retail packaging? It seems I received two phones in two white boxes.

I have called tracfone and I was told one phone did not have any service attached to it.

I am wondering what would you recommend for the issue when only one has the service but the other one has no service.

Received with white non-retail boxes and loose accessories, both phones had plans and activated successfully. Two thumbs up.

As previously asked/answered these old, no longer supported phones are shipped in white boxes. Last security update was a yr ago so they're very outdated.
These are so old they boot to the old Tracfone logo which hasn't been used on new phones in several years (Verizon bought TF in Nov 2021).

That's so much easier than calling them and having the rep transfer everything. That is what I been doing for years for fear of screwing it up
Texting TRANSFER to 611611 will NOT work and will cause all of your existing min/text/data in your old account to be removed. The phone number may transfer, but you will not be able to harvest the min/text/data from the new plan to combine with what you have.

See my post above from today (August 14, 2026) at 10:28 AM for more details.

Both of my phones each had 1 year of service and all the minutes text data. Just finished transfering the balances to my existing line.
How did you do it? I was told by tracfone support you can't do that.

Don't fully trust TracFone support. They don't want you to harvest.

I know you can transfer your current balance to the new phone.

however how can you reactivate your old phone(which might be much better than this older phone model) without adding/buying any new service plan? Every time when you try to reactivate your old phone, it asks you to add new service plan. It seems you can't transfer the balance back to your old phone without adding new service plan.

Select existing number when you activate old phone.

Yes reactivation by selecting existing number. Everything goes back on your old phone.
I find more comfort in doing it on the website PC.
Plus it also gave me a smooth process with esim - just enter the esim IMEI thats it. 5 minute tops.

The advice of energyx was right on....TRANSFER works beautifully.

For those of you who messaged VerizonValue regarding a phone without a service plan: how long did you have to wait for a reply? I sent a message 24 hours ago and still haven't received a response.

Use the existing phone and text TRANSFER to 611611, it will confirm and ask for new phone IMEI, once complete check balances on account. After about 10-15 minutes, do the same on the new phone via text and it will move back to the original phone with combined balances. Just did it yesterday.
work well! Thank you. I use this phone text message method to transfer the service to the new Tracfone. Then I wait a day and use the Tracfone on line activation button to transfer the service back to my BYOP phone, because I need to generate a new esim profile for the old phone.
