Bad idea. It will obviously mess up your knifes and a recent Consumer Reports test shows these allow more bacterial growth vs wood chopping boards.

Certain woods, mainly walnut and maple. Teak, bamboo, etc, not so much.

I throw them in the dishwasher. They hold up really well i mostly use the plastic side but way better than bamboo
