Ooo, something I actually have experience with. I use a very similar cooktop at work, probably just an older model. We likely got ours around when our shop opened about a decade ago, but I'll update this if I find the exact date. We use it multiple times a day for brewing our syrups, sauces, and chai. It probably gets more of a beating here than it would in an average household, and it's been working great. Pros, seems to heat fast with no coil whine. Cons, the buttons are made of a plastic layer that will crack away with enough use. This is more of a neutral point, as the plastic does make it easier to clean and more resistant to spills, but in the time we've had ours one of the buttons has cracked. We have a couple other induction cooktops that we've used, both by duxtop, and I can't stand using them because of the coil whine, it gives me a headache if I stand too close to them while they're on. Our Nuwave doesn't have this problem, and given that this deal is for a newer product of the same wattage it probably is good on this front too.

TLDR; my personal take is that Nuwave products are built to last, and if it can hold up to everyday use for years in a cafe, it will probably hold up well in a home kitchen too.

The 1 star review mentioning inconsistent performance compared to a full size cooktop says a 6" burner (which is fairly much standard for "normal" one burner appliances that don't claim to be extra large)

It doesn't explicitly say, but I'm going to jump to a conclusion that since this is a 1500w model and the 8" coil version is an 1800w model, this one has a 6" coil.

edit Looking at a few other models that math may not hold up. Some 1500w models have the 8" coil. But I would assume the worst if they are not outright saying it

I have this at LOVE it when cooking big holiday meals. I use it to keep gravy hot on our Thanksgiving buffet and to make sauces when having dinner parties. Works with my stainless steel pots perfectly.

I bought the Flex 10" with the 6.5" Coil and have no problem with it at all. I needed something with a 600W setting for camping and using my Ecoflow River Pro. it also fits nicely on my stove at home. The Flex was only $54 during a prime sale

Comparing to the available models on Nuwave's site, visually and measurement-wise it is identical to Nuwave Gold Pro [nuwavenow.com]. That model claims to be 8", but be forewarned the model numbers are different (as is often the case with Costco items).

Additionally I see the 6" models have a max temp of 500°, and those with the 8" element reach 575° which this does.

I used to buy insignia and rosewill ones for around $30 each. But haven't seen those price anymore in at last 5 years. Rosewill one is now $60 but comes with cooking pan too

Same. Last time Best Buy had it on their daily deals which was pre-Covid. I bought like 3. One is used daily by a family member and it's starting to fail now after 6+ years. It still works if you want to just boil water or cook anything on high settings as you can't adjust temperature.

I'm 100% positive this has the 8-inch coil. I've bought this model from Amazon, slight variation. First it's 1500W you won't find that on a 6-inch single coil. Second, the sear feature reaches 575 F. That is an 8 inch coil.

I can't explain why, but I prefer the Square over the circle. I just want to believe I have more security of the pot or pan remaining on the squared burner. Not slipping and sliding off if water gets underneath.

Costco used to have a Tramontina set that included a stainless wok style bowl with heavy duty stainless lid and even a non-stick pan. Was the best deal I've ever seen for an induction top. I have that and have used it the last eight years on job sites. It's been out of stock for a year now. Not sure they will bring it back.

I have the older version and the inconsistency seems to be related to the temperature sensor. It heats up insanely fast when you just have oil in it. The sensor takes a few minutes to read accurately, so you can burn the oil in an empty pan. I had to break my habit of turning it to max and then turning it down. It works better to start it on med-low and turning it up. Where it really excels is boiling water, just max it out and be amazed. It embarrasses our gas cook top on time to boil!

I bought a highly rated Changbert cooktop from Amazon. It kinda sucks. Doesn't maintain a high enough heat to sear or fry. I'll try this out since it's Costco. I've been cooking outside using the induction cooktop so I don't heat and stink up the house. I'm a hobo

I've used a Cooktron 1800W with a ~6" coil, and a Nuwave 1500W with an 8" coil. The latter is better in almost every way. I never noticed even a hint of lower power from the Nuwave, and the larger coil makes such difference on larger pans. I Imagine fancy pans exist that spread heat more evenly, but on the pans I used, the smaller coil left an outer ring of pan where things cooked much slower. The Nuwave also kept more consistent heat.
