I am not sure why. I believe their may be very solid plans to revive Energy and releasing these may be part of regaining Brand awareness. It may have been part of the deal with NEAD. JAMO is also part of the deal and will be releasing a number of new models with the intent to revive the brand as a HiFi brand and not Ikea esque.
All Energy RC-XX speakers were made in China. The were never manufactured in Canada.
The speaker line was announced in 2005 and rolled out in late 2005 and 2006.
Klipsch bought Energy in 2006.
These were basically manufactured while in Klipsch control for most of the speakers run.
There is no 'newer Klipsch' version, that said the original Energy company performed quality control on the product line in Canada before passing the speakers on to vendors.
I would suspect quality control went down when that stopped and all QC was done in China back in 2007.
Now it is likely back up as manufacturing costs are so low and the ability to produce high quality products at scale so commonplace it just comes with the territory.
I wouldn't worry and Klipsch does not own the brand anymore but they may be manufacturing them for NEAD right now.

These are an older design they did measure very well back in original objective testing from mid 200X, it would be nice if Erin's Audio or someone would receive a pair to test.
I can not say I really needed the extra set, but will be fun to compare.

I tried going the used route first, what I found was mostly high priced stuff or speakers with blown tweeters. I have this exact energy set and an RSL 12S and I'm very happy. The RSL 10e is probably the best starting sub for most people.

The are not sold individually. I am not sure why the Adorama listings are so confusing.

tl;dr: you're gonna want a subwoofer but other than that, I think these are really great, especially for the price.

They are the exact same speakers.
Same drivers, design, crossover, everything is the same.
For some reason Energy is re-releasing a number of old models that Klipsch/VOXX must still have had all the relevant production materials for.
Basically all the last stuff Energy came out with before they more or less when dark.
The brand has been sold and is being revived and I am guessing as part of that deal there was some assistance from Gentex/VOXX/Klipsch giving the company a boost by making new batches of all these models. 2025 (the year these seem to have been manufactured) was the year Gentex purchased VOXX and then this year they sold off Energy and Jamo to a new company.
Who knows the exact reason, the whole group is a part of a really massive company.
Streaming doesn't take full advantage of Atmos ime.
Object based soundtracks are an upgrade but only worthwhile if done properly ime.
Two pairs is pretty mandatory & overhead placement is also in my experience.
If these are fantastic, adding the alternatives(modules or height) isn't going to improve much more than fantastic, especially for the added cost ime.
5.1 can be fantastic and can easily rival these alternatives.
Especially if you tend to stream most of your content ime.
If you can't/won't follow this layout.
TBH you're better off learning how to use REW program and get a umik.
Depending on your environment/room, adding a second sub would be better upgrade also.

A subwoofer is a "speaker" specifically designed for low frequencies.
These are listed to go down to 31hz, a decent sub goes well below that.
If this is for mainly streaming content & since in ceiling surrounds aren't ideal.
Just give it a shot and if you're happy, you're done.
