Tello's promo stands out as a low-cost second line with unlimited talk and text, 50GB of high-speed data, hotspot use, and access to 5G SA. The newer rollover feature is a big upgrade, with unused high-speed data rolling forward up to 100GB total when it applies. Physical SIMs can wait up to 30 days to activate, while eSIM service starts immediately. The main catches are the short three month promo window, possible extra fees, and rollover not carrying over if the plan is changed to a fixed data tier.
Common Questions (4)
Yes. Unused high-speed data on the unlimited plan can roll over, up to the full 50GB allowance, for a maximum of 100GB available in a month. The rollover applies to the unlimited plan and is a key reason the promo is attractive for heavier data users.
A physical SIM must be activated within 30 days, while an eSIM starts billing immediately even if you do not install it. If you want to delay the start date, ordering a physical SIM and converting to eSIM later can preserve the promo timing.
Yes, hotspot is supported, and the unlimited plan's rollover makes it more useful for tethering-heavy use. The 10GB $15 plan does not appear to include auto rollover, so hotspot users may prefer the unlimited option.
Yes. After the 30 days you paid for, you can port out without any extra requirement. The port-out account number and PIN are generated in the account and are only valid for a short time, so request them when you are ready to switch.

What I would do in your case: sign up for the promo in this deal for $15/mo and get the SIM or eSIM free. Use a referral code when creating an account to get $10 in Tello dollars. It probably makes the most sense to use the three months of the promo, but you can downgrade at any time, if you prefer to change plans after the first month.
For month 4, I would select the $15/10GB plan. Assuming your regular usage, you will have 8GB left. On day 29, manually renew and select the $10/2GB plan and apply your $10 in Tello dollars making month 5 free. After rolling, you should be back up to 10GB for that month and you will have spent $60 for 5 months of service. Then I would continue renewing the $10 plan on day 29. If you end up using more data than normal, you can always go back to the $15 plan for one month, then drop back down to $10 after that.
