1) There is no fan. It's just perforations on the top, allowing a bit of air flow. I've seen this unit opened up, and it is fanless despite what the Amazon listing says. Even Sabrent's materials agree. As such, this unit can become rather hot if pushed hard. I did so, swapping a dozen or so 45w-100w devices and charging them up, and found it can become uncomfortably hot when pushing that kind of amperage for hours. This is an unusual situation since most users will see their devices go over the charging curve and total amperage drop after 30-45 minutes, but I got at least a few of my ports over 160°F, noting the areas around the ports became hot enough to burn skin. (140°F surface temps, used a temp gun) Basically, don't try to push 150w+ through these for more than a couple hours. If you need that, get a fan-cooled pro solution.
2) Read the manual. Specifically, the power distribution chart on page 3. The moment you plug in a second USB-C cable into the same side, (A and B) power delivery drops to 25w on the 2nd USB-C port, while the first port maintains a 100w max. The moment you also plug in a USB-A cable into the same side, that first port then drops to 65w max. The unit can deliver 252w max, but only when all ports are in use at the same time. 3) Don't be surprised when a lot of your cables fail to output peak wattage. This unit is great for proving out junk cables. I recommend getting a couple packs of 8" - 24" USB-A and C cables so it looks nice and orderly, and a couple longer USB-C cables for larger devices that won't sit next to the charger. On the contrary, the other non-name 260w chargers on Amzn sold for $19 has no issues charging my power banks at full power, so "Sabrent! what's going on?"
Physically, the two versions appear to be identical, meaning the only difference between them is the firmware. Within the firmware it appears there are just 2 changes that affect the screen: 1) the screen no longer automatically shuts off if sitting at the main display for 2 minutes, and 2) there is now an option to invert the display. Every other aspect I can see / test appears identical to the first version.
