I can only speak for my old Galaxy Tab S7 FE with 4GB of RAM when I say this, but... I've never had any problems based on RAM. I use it for movies and comic book / magazine reader mostly, but also some gaming and web browsing. It's never complained about any game I've thrown at it.
I'd say it depends on what you are going to use it for. High-end gaming? Probably go higher. But this is a $150 tablet, so what do you expect? Basic browsing and movies? You'll probably be fine unless this unit is a lot less optimized than my old Samsung.
This Lenovo Idea Tab is positioned as a budget 11 inch tablet for streaming, reading, and basic browsing, with a sharp 2.5K display, decent speakers, and good battery life for travel or all day use. The included pen and case add value, and the screen size is praised for full screen video and security monitor use. The main concern is the 4GB memory, which is described as slow for multitasking, YouTube, and heavier apps, with some reports of freezing or needing restarts. It looks best suited to light use rather than demanding workloads.
People using a tablet for Netflix, email, and web browsing, because basic apps run smoothly and battery life is good for plane trips.
For basic browsing and streaming, 4GB can be usable, but several reports say it becomes slow or choppy once you add heavier multitasking or longer video sessions. If you want smoother performance for YouTube, app switching, or more demanding use, 8GB is the safer choice.
Yes, it can run 24/7 as a security monitor and handle full-screen video well, with one setup kept plugged in and battery managed around 40-60% for health. It may need a reboot every few weeks and occasional hard-restart button holds to recover from freezes.
Yes, it can use a microSD card for extra storage. That makes it easier to keep media, comics, or offline files on the tablet without relying only on the built-in 128GB.
yeah, you mean like 70% of the population. why is it bad when 70% of the population just checks email, watches TV on netflix and does web surfing ???
So I bought this and am returning it now. Even for videos it hangs. Just opening YouTube it sometimes crashes. And you need to make sure you only open one app at a time. I returned it for the 8gb ram version for 50 dollars more.
I got two on sale years ago. I use 24/7 as a security monitor. It's great for that. I tried an ipad but the app put too big of framing around the shrunken video and this is ideal full screen (Lorex classic). I wanted to output to a monitor but the smaller + model could but non+ no. This does need reboot every few weeks and a "hard restart" more buttons holding down sometimes but I'd give it an A+ for the price and being run always years without failure. I keep it plugged in and it auto goes from 40-60% on the battery to keep it in the best health. I do suggest at least 11" or bigger screen my other one is 9"? and it makes more difference than I expected. When this eventually breaks I'll go with a $250 SD with 12.7" screen.
Why would you need to hard restart this? Can you not restart normally?

I don't know if it's the app or the computer part of the Lenovo. It's like older windows sometimes it just froze and you had to restart. I just had to restart it again yesterday. It gets very slow holding the power button waiting for restart menu. IIRC holding it and lower volume at the same time is a force reboot. Because IDK if it's a defective app or just the tablet I can't complain too much.
Edit: a hard restart is needed when the power button doesn't work. It's still frozen. Cell phones do the same sometimes.

I vaguely remember something that did this on windows back in the days of 8megabyte of ram. Yes I didn't say gigabyte. It was like a zip or rar thing that would compress data going into the ram. So there you go, download the app 😅
4gb ram is too low in 2026. I used galaxy tab with 4g ram, i returned it right away. I guess 8gb ram is the minimum for youtube netflix and web browsing. Heavy Games need more than 8gb ram
They are okay, just short term support, no manufacturer supports like Samsung does, Samsung provides 3 major version upgrades and 7 years of support on software and security patches.
4gb memory is not worth it, unless you are buying for young family members or low bandwidth taskers. As a pro or high utilizer, I won't buy tablet that has less than 8gb memory, I'd rather pay $100 extra and get galaxy a11+. That's my personal opinion.

You see the comments whining about 4GB RAM for no reason. Those aren't premium brand people.

So far I use it for movies and YouTube. I m thinking a cheap Chinese tablet would have done the same
