Trick is to go back and forth every year between cheap annual offers, some work involved with the porting and what not, but definitely worth the savings.
My personal take is, I only try to do the 12 month offers. getting a $10-15 a month for 3 months deal may be nice, but to keep dealing with port in and port outs and glitches that can arise from starting a new carrier more than 1x a year is something I have no interest in messing with.
I am currently on MINT, my year cell plan ends in early December, so I too will be shopping around then for a deal if mint won't renew me at $180 for the year. But I have no complaints about their service, been very reliable and solid whereever I've used the phone.

what is "IT", not Mint Mobile service.
OK, I see, but just FYI, this is an unlimited data plan vs the 5GB plan, so I'd certainly expect to pay less for it than this plan which also has generous hotspot as well.
but can an existing Mint user apply one to their account or for new users of Mint only?

I don't agree, these 'new customer' offers are widespread among a number of carriers that all jack your rate up to their normal rate after the term is up. Just the way it is, I can't say they suck as a result, you are told upfront that is the case, not like they lied to you about what would happen at the end of 12 months.
That's why people play the game of shopping around for a better deal on another carrier when their 12 months are coming due Done it myself.
