$19.37 for a smart plug? No energy monitoring.

These ThirdReality Zigbee plugs are $9.75 a piece and have energy monitoring.

You don't understand. This is a Hue. When it clicks on, it really clicks on. And you get the added benefit of them changing the firmware in a few years to disable local control.

What on earth? Why would you pay $20 each for a smart plug that basically provides no additional features that a $5 Alexa plug doesn't already have?

The benefit over a cheap Wi-Fi plug is that these run entirely local on the Hue bridge, so they don't clutter your router or fail when the internet is down. They also pair directly with Hue accessories like dimmer switches and motion sensors with zero delay. If you're already in the Hue ecosystem, they are just way more reliable than Wi-Fi options.

The TP Link Tapo also handle 1800 watts each, but only cost $28 for 4 - but wait, there's more!

The Tapo plugs also include real time energy monitoring and Matter support!

The entire Hue ecosystem is one overpriced, underperforming joke. Learned this the hard way after installing Hue Lighting and the worthless Hue Bridge in my house, when the same thing could have been done at a fraction of the cost with More features using generic smart lights that connect directly to Alexa or Google without the hardware bridge.

The Hue Bridge is another obsolete piece of junk that serves no purpose other than being another piece of equipment to buy.

Even before Matter was a thing, hardware bridges were obsolete.
