having heard many of these, yes, they are worth it, but yes, amp will help and good music source
they are large yes, but pretty light... but they are supposed to cover your ears.

Currently powering them with Topping D30 dac and atom amp. Does a good job. Dont know if other amps would be much of an upgrade though.
