Decent deal but not a great product. Get the 9800X3D if you want more gaming or the 9950X if you want more productivity
Uh? This is the 9950x3d. Get this if you want gaming and productivity from the same CPu

For real - this CPU is the best of both worlds; absolutely would pick this over the 9800x3D for a few bucks more.

EXACTLY! haha. I already have a 9950X. (it's fine enough, I don't need more performance for gaming or I'd get 9950X3D (or the X3D2 if I have extra money toi burn)

This is the 9950x3D which is superior to the 9800x3D in both gaming and productivity.

Same price at Amazon but you can get 5% cashback via Prime, making it cheaper than even Micro Center and Newegg with easier returns. The cooler Newegg is including for free is only $39 on Amazon, and not exactly great reviews if you check all the platforms. I prefer air cooling myself.

I did a 2024 build with a 9800x3d+RTX 4090 and 64gb of RAM. Yesterday I decided to do a Mini-ITX build. At first I was going to opt for a 7600x3d+RTX 5080 for the new build, but decided to swap the 9800x3d and half the RAM from existing build into new build and then buy a 9950x3d for the existing build, and then go with an RX 9070 XT instead of a RTX 5080 for $683.

Fun builds. They both crush at 4k gaming, but the 9950x3d is noticeably more snappy while switching virtual desktops during gaming loading screens/waiting for rez. This is especially evident in Helldivers 2, one of the most inefficient pieces of software ever written in human history.
