This trade in deal mainly turns a Switch OLED or original Switch into a cheaper Switch 2, with the strongest appeal being the high trade value and easy in store pickup when the promo is recognized. The Switch 2 adds 1080p, HDR, VRR, faster loads, and smoother gameplay, while still playing Switch 1 games. The main knocks are the LCD screen, which can look washed out or smeary next to OLED, and the shorter battery life. Trade in rules and store handling vary, so accessories, model selection, and promo application can affect the final total.

did the trade up; honestly; I had been gifted an old switch by my brother; my son has been enjoying it. Wanted to upgrade to the switch 2 at some point; but the price never made sense. Now w fire emblem coming out soon; I was definitely weighing the pros / cons; and $150 trade in is unmatched right now for a regular switch. I just bit the bullet. Ordered online, did in store pick up / trade in, Was easy; they barely checked that the system turned on. Was in and out in 3 minutes. This seems like the current best way to upgrade. Thanks for posting. Already got my switch 2 going and playing games! Glad the switch 1 pro controller works the same; and all my old games still run perfectly.

I just tried to trade my Oled model. The Site said it could give up to $205 but in the actual store offered $50 instead because it wasn't brand new in a sealed box. I kept both because the Oled is still great and this console is only going to get more expensive. Beware.
you have to initiate it online, buy it online and do pick up. Maybe pick up from different store. show them the receipt that shows the promo trade in.

Overall, I find the OLED screen is be significantly better than the LCD of the Switch 2. It probably depends on the game you play. In games with a lot of dark areas, the OLED is vastly superior.
No idea why you were downvited. OLED is vastly superior to the LCD in almost every single way except for peak brightness. We know there's going to be an OLED switch 2 coming out soon. It makes no sense even with this price unless you don't care about handheld gaming screen quality.

Can we buy the switch 2 in store after checking with the trade in? Or we have to pay and reserve the switch 2 first before going?

For store pick up, I think you have to provide the trade in at the same time, as they had to submit it and apply the credit together. I received my $150 trade in credit instantly on my order in my account after I walked out the store.

If you need to save and transfer data, I recommend you do the shipping method. Then you can transfer the data, and then mail the old console in within the time frame. Only down side is you will have to wait up to 2 weeks for them to inspect and then provide the credit.
no this is incorrect. when you trade in they give you the $130 gift card which has the promo voucher attached to it. You can use that gift card and or the voucher at the same time, but it's not mutually inclusive

No, the dock is not required. The best buy rep told me they just recycle them. I brought it with me and took it home.

O so you have to spend the additional gift carx? That is not the case for me. I received an updated charge on my order to $342 ($300 + tax). They deducted $150 from my original billing.

I just did this deal, I went in-store and traded in a switch 2 with the dock and power supply and got a $130 gift card and a one time use $75 coupon. The sales person did minimal checking of the condition of the switch (very light visual and turned it on, did not actually try the controllers). If you do the deal online it shows a mario 40th game case, they are not able to easily do get this to you if you do the trade-in in-store. They ended up doing it for me by selling me 2 games with my purchase and then immediately refunding it (the promo for the case in-store is different than online). Hope this helps someone.

Just chatted with a Best Buy Rep- I will have the switch2 ship to my location, then drop off the trade-in in-store. This seems like the best solution for me

If I have the switch 1....what games am I missing out on?

The only one that I can think of is donkey kong

Why would people pay around $350 for one good exclusive game?
I've been waiting with my OLED because of the Ocarina of Time. This deal looks like it's as good as it will ever get. I jump on it so that I can play that once it comes out. But yea, currently, I have no desire to play any other currently available Switch 2 exclusives.

I was once told I have some early/older model Switch 1 that is sought after because it's a model # that can be hacked to be able to do something else... I don't really remember. But I was told back then that if I ever wanted to get rid of it that I should sell it instead of trading it in cuz I would get more money... Does that make any sense to anyone reading this?
Makes sense - some of the older switches can be hacked more easily commonly referred to as unpatched. The going ebay rate seems to be around 130ish for just the tablet before shipping and fees. The 150 from best buy is nice but sounds like you'd have to also provide dock + joycons too for the full amount.

Honestly if you have a Switch OLED in good condition, you are better off keeping it. Why? You are only getting up to 130.00. Take a look at what good condition NDS and N3DS systems go for nowadays. Switch is no longer being manufactured. As time goes on their value will increase. There's plenty of examples of S1 games playing worse on S2 hardware. Some have been fixed, others may not.
Switch 1 IS still being manufactured, actually. And 3DS didn't sell even CLOSE to as well as Switch 1.

Is it going to be anything like three houses? That game blew me away, normally I'm totally against Waifu relationship simulator games but it was just so well done that I was hooked until the end.
Looking like a prequel to 3H. According to early reviews it's 'the most ambitious in the series'. This one is closer to Three Houses than Engage was.

Switch 2 has no exclusive games worth playing. Don't bother
I want one for ocarina of time and majora's mask remakes. I'm sure they will phone it in as usual with no new dungeons, though.
