Probably you don't need do anything, just put in Tracfone sim card and work perfectly. Last year Nov 2025, I bought a Moto G Stylus 2025 at Walmart online order for $55. The phone is also wrote "Locked with Straight Talk". When I got the phone and turned it on, I saw the Tracfone logo and software. I just put in my Tracfone sim card and it works fine. After 2 months used with Tracfone sim, my phone is UNLOCKED by itself AUTOMATIC. Right now, I'm using it. I attached my receipt of my phone below.

If you unlucky, the iPhone is not running with Tracfone software. You could call Tracfone customer service and ask them to REBRAND to Tracfone.

iPhone 16e is esim only & needs to be activated that way & a new year of paid service is now required to qualify for unlock. Iphones have never had Tracfone software, only androids.

Unlock info from last year no longer applies since the unlocking policy changed in late January of this year.

BTW - they stopped using the old TF boot logo on new phones a while ago since Verizon now owns the company. 2023/24 ST/TF Motos only have the Moto boot screen & the 2025 models have the Verizon logo at boot. Only android phones produced before then still have the old logo.

This is also available at Walmart B&M but it's a complete hit or miss whether your local store has a 3rd party mobile rep. They are needed to process the Straight Talk $45 plan activation, which is necessary for the sale price.

There isn't a sim slot on the 16e, so you need to get it rebranded.

Hm~ I bought a refurbished Tracfone Samsung A16 with 1 year plan from Amazon. I've not activated it. What if I buy this and plugin the SIM into it? lol.

Oh wait - they're related but different brands.

Received mine this morning and immediately chatted Tracfone CSR to rebrand and switch one of pSim to eSim on this 16e, took about 30mins though (waiting time is quite long). Tried to confirm if the phone will get unlocked after one year on current active tracfone service, got a yes but unsure the CSR was certain and clear on their unlocking policy. But I lean towards that.

You lose it if it's not used on the original provider, plans don't transfer because the details aren't the same. Use it and then get it rebranded - hopefully the 1st month on ST will still count towards unlock.

That's unfortunate, there's conflicting info out there online. I went ahead and bought it since I have a year+ service accumulated with tracfone. Don't have any real need for the straight talk plan so it's kind of a waste but whatever.

So your service plan from old phone got transferred to 16e? I have two years of service plan on my existing TracFone phone. So I can request to rebrand and transfer service plan from existing phone to 16e?

If you rebrand to TF and keep current number your current TF plan is still there (just as if it was a locked TF) BUT since carryover service doesn't apply to the unlock time you will still need to purchase a year of new service on the 16e before it will qualify for unlocking.
