If you have a Cricket phone, it may have been programmed with a lock that prevents it from operating with other compatible wireless networks. Cricket will unlock your device upon request, if you have met the following unlocking requirements:
The device you want to unlock has been active for at least 365 days of paid service on that device.
The device is designed for use on and is locked to Cricket's network.
The device has not been reported lost or stolen.
The device is not associated with a fraudulent account.

A little bit more than $220 for new iPhone 16e.
Eventually, it's a slickdeal.
I was on a similar deal for a "free" 16e back in March when I'd pay $60/month x2. After that, phone was still locked. My plan was to trade it in for a 17e at Apple Store for $310. My net discount would be +190$ on the 17e. Other people used similar strategies to get other iPhones or Apple accessories.
And one of the key factors was that Apple Store accepted the carrier-locked 16e for the trade.
