Actually, you can schedule it to start AFTER your current plan ends and you CAN keep your existing number. As you go through the purchase process for a phone that you already have with them, there is an option to start the new plan immediately or to start it after your current plan ends.

There definitely is one consideration to think about. These lines DO NOT get the same level of priority as native subscribers to either Verizon or T-Mobile. So I've noticed twice over the course of two years when I have been in "arena" settings (like a concert or graduation) with thousands of people that my mobile data was not working. This is almost certainly because native Verizon and T-Mobile subscribers get priority over Infimobile. But I can live with that for the price difference.

I joined Infimobile last year on this deal. Here's my review of Infimobile to those on the fence:

TLDR; As long as you understand the difficulties and don't mind the initial hoops, on the whole, I would recommend it.

Pros:
- About the cheapest mobile plan you can get.

- You can choose between Verizon and T-Mobile's network.

- Speeds seem as advertised (I came from an actual Verizon account), no issues with 5G.

- Once you are activated and going, it just works. I have had no issues with the service that has required me to contact Infimobile once I was up and going.

- You can apply most promotions and sales to your current mobile plan and extensions (prepaid SIMs have mixed results for extensions, FYI).

Cons:
- They do nickel and dime you for anything past the initial activation. Want a new eSIM generated? Want to add Hotspot? Want pretty much any line/account change? Want to switch from T-Mobile to Verizon networks or vice versa? Got a new phone and need to activate the new phone? Each will incur a small fee.

- Customer service is the biggest issue in my mind. It's difficult to reach anyone and if there are issues it becomes a waiting game as they get back to you in 24-72 hours and then you play the elongated back and forth via email. Live chat is ok, wait times and response times vary and often once an issue becomes too difficult they kick you into the, previously mentioned, email loop.

- In very crowded/event environments speed does slowdown. It's still usable but you can definitely sense network priority is not with Infimobile (understandable).

- Account management in the website is clunky, the website doesn't send me SMS messages for my 2 factor authentication so I often have to contact Live Chat to get changes made and go through their authorization.

- No smartwatch support.

Honestly, this is probably the worst quality mvno I've dealt with when it comes to prioritization, every single day for me. I really thought it was just Verizon not being great, because this is my first mvno using Verizon. T-Mobile ones have been fine. But my city has fantastic coverage for Verizon and T-Mobile, so I was going to try T-Mobile side for renewal. But I see plenty of complaints with T-Mobile side as well, so almost feels like no point in trying and being locked in for a year like I am now.

Maybe test it by buying a 1-month T-Mobile SIM to see how it works on your area? I am in an urban area, but honestly, I am at home or work for most of my day, where wifi is available, so maybe I am desensitized. If I were using it as my primary network connectivity, prioritization might be more obvious.

Get your account number and port out pin with mint its the last 4 of your phone number.

Go to the activation portal on infimobile's website activate sim selecting keep number and put in your port info and you are done.

I failed to do this last year and they insisted buying from amazon is for new number only, not allowed to schedule it with current number. Could you elaborate your approach more so we can follow?

Used them for 2 years early on. They gave me free hotspot to test Tmobile when it was new to them. Prioritization is pretty poor if you are anywhere there are other people. I use it for elderly family members that are not really data users, its fine for them. I would not consider a return unless they dropped the absurd $5 a month hotspot fee. You can at times just get zero data connectivity at peak rush hour city situations. Nothing like you are disconnected on both Verizon and Tmobile.

I did initially buy some Infimobile plans/renewals from Amazon, but I now renew via the Infimobile website directly, where the option is given to start a new plan immediately, or add it on to an existing line. And so far, I have seen both of these options presented, even when the Infimobile webpage says that a particular offer is for new activations only. They may change it one day.

Regarding Amazon purchases being for new numbers only, I cannot verify this or not. The last Infimobile purchase I made through Amazon was a bit more than a year ago so I have no recent experience. But keep an eye on the Infimobile website directly because it has deals that Amazon does not, and vice versa. So while the 15GB/month plan is not on sale at the Infimobile website right now, it probably will be in the future. And at that point, you could definitely migrate over a number and not be forced to get a new number (if that is actually the case via an Amazon purchase).

Not sure how they do things nowadays, but in the past, when one purchased an Infimobile SIM from Amazon, you had to then activate it on receipt at the Infimobile website. You'd actually have to specify the Amazon order number when doing this. Looks like they still might do it this way (see https://infimobile.com/activate).

But if you are activating a new SIM, that would mean you are getting a new number. Or, that you are starting fresh with Infimobile, but need to port in your number from your old carrier. In fact, if you look at the activate link above, you'll see the two options are "port in" and "new number".

This is now starting to make more sense--perhaps if you buy a whole new SIM at Amazon, that forcefully means a new number (or port in of old number). Because you are buying the actual SIM, not just a plan...

It's a good price as long as you never need customer support. I've been trying to get my voice mail fixed for over a year. Figured that should be a basic feature in 2026, but I guess not.

These things vary so much for people even within the same city, you really can't tell until you've tried it.

Oh yeah, voice mail is another thing... I do not use it much, but it seems like every time I go to use it, I have to set it up anew. Wait, I just tried it now expecting to get the same setup prompt that walks you through the steps of setting up an initial password and greeting message, but by golly, it is working. Last time I checked (and set it up) was maybe two months ago? So maybe it is working now? I don't know, but yeah, if you are a heavy voice mail user, I'd suggest trying it for a month first before making a year-long commitment.

They have a super-cheap "Deal Buster" plan that is $30 total for 12 months, so just $2.50/month. It gives 500MB/month of data and 100 mins/sms message, which is absolutely paltry, but yeah, you can get a good idea of whether it will work well for you. And it's good for a backup phone or parking a number.
