A "Hey I just watched a movie" thread

12,438 1,117 April 23, 2010 at 06:49 PM
One of the other forums I go to has one of these threads and I've been turned on to some good movies that other regulars just watched. I was kind of surprised not to see a similar thread here (at least not that I could find.) Big Grin

I just rewatched "Kinamand" - a cute drama about a Danish plumber who gets involved in an arranged marriage with a Chinese illegal. Good stuff (Netflix instant.)

So what have you folks watched recently?

In the Mouth of Madness - 7.5/10

Movie really scared me, somes scenes are extrtemely creepy. Didn't help I watched it at night with lights off. Cold
I love that movie. Wasn't scary for me but I was completely into the whole story. If you want to watch a creepy movie, watch a korean movie "Tale of Two Sisters". Kinda slow but DAMN, some scenes were just CREEPY.

Another movie I saw and forgot to mention:
Get Him to Greek: 2/5 - I'm not so fond Russel Brand, but I watched it for some laughs. The movie was entertaining at points and kind of like Huh at some points. But overall good to watch when bored.

Took a little break from HK tonight and headed down to Brazil for Tropa de Elite (Elite Squad) [imdb.com].

Simply an amazing movie. Tried to lay down and relax while watching it and kept finding myself sitting back up and moving to the edge of my seat. A definite "must see".

Watched it early this morning. Have to say that I thought the first one was much better. Then again, I'm a rabid right winger which might explain things as Tropa 2 was fairly left leaning. Smilie

Have you not watched Lost before?

I wish I could give some advice so that you won't hate the end like so many people did (and I very much dislike it as well). Embarrassment

nope, by the time i realized i might actually want to watch the show, it was already halfway through season 2. so i just kinda...waited.

last year i got in on a slickdeal and bought S1-S5 on Blu-ray for $108 (even though i'd never seen a single episode Crazy ) and i just started watching S1 on Friday night. i'm about 17 episodes in already LMAO

i know i'll probably hate the ending, but i'm going to watch it anyways. i think i know bits and pieces of what goes on throughout the show, but i can't remember many specific details.

Don't watch it for the plot, watch it for the characters (so many likable characters, even the ones you will hate). That should help with the ending, it did for me. laugh out loud

it's funny you say that, because i just finished telling a coworker this morning how much i'm in love with this show and it's almost entirely because of the character development. every single person has their own story and you hear about all of it. i mean, the suspense is great, but the characters and how they interact and how they're all somehow strangely connected in various ways back in Sydney - that's what i really love.

Iagree
This is the advice I was going to give, too. It's easy to get into all the mystery and plot, but it's best to just take it as fancy graphics like in an action movie. Just focus on the characters for the most part. They are all really easy to get attached to (except Kate...). Even Frogurt and Arnst (however you spell their names). Stick Out Tongue

I didn't start watching until season 4 or so. My friend had them on DVD, so I borrowed them and watched till I was all caught up. Watched the last two seasons on TV. A lot of people seemed to get lost while watching it on TV... I guess because there's time inbetween to forget about stories you might not have seen for a bit, whereas watching on DVD you remember pretty easily.
