A "Hey I just watched a movie" thread

12,438 1,117 April 23, 2010 at 06:49 PM
One of the other forums I go to has one of these threads and I've been turned on to some good movies that other regulars just watched. I was kind of surprised not to see a similar thread here (at least not that I could find.) Big Grin

I just rewatched "Kinamand" - a cute drama about a Danish plumber who gets involved in an arranged marriage with a Chinese illegal. Good stuff (Netflix instant.)

So what have you folks watched recently?

laugh out loud I didn't notice, but that is interesting Scratchhead

I was also fairly disappointed with Alice in Wonderland. I got a bit excited about it, I'm sure, but I should have known better. I still need to watch the Disney one again. I think that's the only one I've been happy with, but it's also been a while since I last saw it.

Since he can't say it on his layte show, he more than makes up for it on his comedy show. I laugh out louded throughout.

I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry - very good ( and silly ) comedy. Of course, I love Kevin James, Adam Sandler, and Dan Aykroyd, so I gave it extra points for the casting. Lots of stereotyping, but still a laugh out loud feel-good kind of movie.

Thor 7.5/10

Thought it would suck but it was surprisingly funny. Loved the part where he goes to the pet store. LMAO

Love and Other Drugs (Anne Hathaway, Jake Gylly) - It wasn't the story I was expecting. It had it's moments, mostly involving Hathaway's chesticles and Gylly's ass. Coverlaugh I won't watch it again, but I'm not upset that I spent $1 on it. laugh out loud 6/10

The Dilemma (Vince Vaughn heart, Kevin James) - OK, I love Vince Vaughn. I have always loved that man. But recently, his movies involve way too much improvisation for my liking. I actually fast forwarded through a 3 minute speech that he was making in the movie, because it was so freaking awkward I couldn't handle it. It was a good story, there were lots of funny parts, but the improv that seems to come along with Vince Vaughn lately is just too much to tolerate sometimes. Another movie that I won't watch again, but I'm not upset that I spent $1 on it. laugh out loud 7/10

Aurora Borealis (Joshua Jackson heart ) - A very heartfelt movie. The only reason I knew it existed was because I was searching Netflix for Joshua Jackson movies. It was actually pretty good. Donald Sutherland puts on a wonderful performance as a Parkinson's patient. 8/10

I saw that a few years ago and didn't think I'd like it, but I really did enjoy it! It was a great cast of characters and funny, but not over the top stupid-hangover style funny. Sorry all, I hated the first Hangover and have no desire to see the new one.

I still have I Love You Phillip Morris and Unstoppable to get to this weekend.

Somewhere - Watched this one last night, it's a Sofia Coppola film and many would find it boring and pointless. It's slow, very slow. But it's a good story of how a wild actor's life changes when he suddenly has his 11 year old daughter to take care of. Elle Faning (Dakota's sister) plays the daughter, and she was really good in this.

Thanks for this one, I love Pacey! Don't think I've heard of this movie, and I see it also has Juliette Lewis, really like watching her too. Must add to my Netflix queue!

I only liked X3 and Wolverine. This is the best so far.

I liked the first one, but didn't really care for the others. I like this one a lot because it is more "old school" x-men and it's more about the story telling and character development than omfg wolverine is so hawt!
