A "Hey I just watched a movie" thread

12,438 1,117 April 23, 2010 at 06:49 PM
One of the other forums I go to has one of these threads and I've been turned on to some good movies that other regulars just watched. I was kind of surprised not to see a similar thread here (at least not that I could find.) Big Grin

I just rewatched "Kinamand" - a cute drama about a Danish plumber who gets involved in an arranged marriage with a Chinese illegal. Good stuff (Netflix instant.)

So what have you folks watched recently?

Red Riding Hood - Not very good at all, and I wanted to like it just a little bit.

Lincoln Lawyer - I too, have this from Netflix and hope to watch tonight.
The key to getting through The Lincoln Lawyer is to have something to multi-task with or use it to guide you into a deep sleep. laugh out loud

Went to see Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer (2011) with the kiddos yesterday. I usually enjoy kid movies, but this one was pretty bad. The main character wasn't likeable and the story was pretty lacking, even for a kids movie.

My daughter enjoyed it, so mission accomplished on that front.

Heather Graham is always enjoyable to look at, though.

Hello Everyone,

Ok "Weeds Season Four, Five and Six" just wow and I'm still just amazed how Nancy Botwin manages to escape everytime. I don't like her baby father, what a d*ck!!!. 3.5/5

"The Mechanic" just more explosions and Jason Statham walking around in a cool twill sweater. I still like him and the sex scene is Girly and Blush. I friend of mine was watching this with me and he was like, "Wait you can fix an engine in 10 minutes?" and I replied, "Wait, come on, you know that Jason Statham doesn't do manual labor. He's just paid to look pretty and just walk around." Rofl2 3/5

"I am Number Four" it was cool. But if evil aliens are coming to kill you, who stops to develop film? I mean black and white, that crap takes 30 minutes in the developer, 20 minutes to dry, 10 minutes to make a sheet, then another 5 to develop and dry but I guess they had time to develop and a whole entire roll and Kiss before the bad guys came. I want to see part two and I loved the beagle. It was hilarious when the beagle came and got #4 when he was at this girlfriends house. 3/5

"RepoMen" really? So explain to me if you want one part of the body back and you take it, won't it make sense to harvest the entire body also and make a profit instead of leaving it to die? There's a glitch in this movie and you'll see because I've got to go a few scenes back and rewatch this movie. 2.5/5

"The Roommate" it took to long to start and f&$k that psycho for hurting Cuddles. Skip it and skip it hard. It lost me when the furball dyed but so many other people lived. Oh wait, Billy Zane, he should have died. 1.5/5

Enjoy your movies peeps.

Note: I haven't seen either of those films.

You kinda missed the point, the company didn't care about the organs, they only wanted money. They certainly didn't want real organs, they only wanted to "repo" the artificial organs they sold. They knew the artificial organs they sold were overpriced and almost no one could afford to follow through on the payment terms which was fine with them. The company could sell an organ, repo it when payments are late, re-sell it to someone else, ... lather, rinse, repeat. They could re-sell the same artificial organ several times, making money every time. The artificial organs also could be placed on a shelf and stored indefinitely until needed (compare that idea to an auto parts store), real organs would only have a small window to be transplanted to someone else before they were no good.

No, I didn't miss the point but it made more sense for me to take everything. I know they could resell it but, a little side money is ok too and untraceable Wink

"9th Company" - A very gritty Russian movie following a group of Soviet soldiers during the invasion of Afghanistan in the 1980s. 3/5

"A Short Film About Love" - 1980s Polish film by their version of of Martin Scorcese. This is my second viewing. I liked it. 3.5/5

"Everything Strange and New" - If you disliked "Blue Valentine" you'd despise this film. It was pretty much unwatchable indie nothingness aside for the last 10 minutes of the film. 1/5

"Stander" - South African film about a cop turned bank robber. It didn't break any new ground but it was still good. 3.5/5

"Return of the Dragon" - Bruce Lee. Pretty campy but when grading on a curve it wasn't all that bad. 2.5/5

"Bread and Tulips" - Italian rom-com. Not so good. 1.5/5.

This weekend was great for movie watching for me:
Captain America (2011) - My son and I loved it! Very well done.
Casablanca (1942) - Finally watched this gem. One of the few movies I have seen that lived up to the hype.
Planet of the Apes (1968) - Another classic that was great to see again.
