A "Hey I just watched a movie" thread

One of the other forums I go to has one of these threads and I've been turned on to some good movies that other regulars just watched. I was kind of surprised not to see a similar thread here (at least not that I could find.) Big Grin

I just rewatched "Kinamand" - a cute drama about a Danish plumber who gets involved in an arranged marriage with a Chinese illegal. Good stuff (Netflix instant.)

So what have you folks watched recently?

28 Days Later (2002) - First of all, I can't believe this came out 10 years ago. I didn't realize it was that "old". I enjoyed it, but thought there would be a little more action going in.

Oceans Eleven (1960) - This one starred Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., and the rest of the Rat Pack. Nevertheless, this movie clocked in over two hours, and that was about an hour too long. It took forever for anything to happen, and when stuff did happen, it was pretty darned uneventful. I need to watch the remake to see how the ending (which I liked) compares. The highlight of the movie for me? Norman Fell (Mr. Roper!) played a secondary character in the film. Ta da!

The Losers (2010) - This was based on a comic book and definitely had the comic book vibe going for it. Not a lot of closure, so I wonder if they have a sequel in the works. A good popcorn flick.

Interesting. Jim Carey ad Ewan McGregor as lovers, based on a true story. 6 out of 10 stars.

"The Way" – I really liked this film. It was definitely low hanging fruit in terms of sentimentality, but it was really well done. I've always been a sucker for films that are big on the father/son relationship thing (in a good way) and this one really resonated with me. Overall it was a very sweetly written film, and Martin Sheen did a fantastic job in it. They could have very easily made it a social commentary/religious film but it seems like they made an effort to avoid doing so. If Mike and the Mechanics' "The Living Years" hits you in a soft spot then you might want to check this flick out. 4.5/5
Iagree

Wife and I saw this over the weekend. Very good movie. Wife and I both want to do the walk someday. Smilie

Yep, great movie. With Martin Sheen, I was fully expecting some left wing political BS to get thrown in my face, but surprisingly and happily, it wasn't.

That was exactly my concern too....that he would make it overly political or religious (he's very, very involved in the RC church.) I was happy that they didn't go in that direction. He's such a great actor (IMO a bit underrated.)

I remember back in the late 70's, going to a midnight showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show. It was great fun following along with the movie with toast, TP, lighters, etc.

Last night I watched Cars 2 (2011) with the family. I thought it was pretty funny.

"War Horse" - It was kind of long, but aside from a 30 minute stretch of the movie it wasn't the "Horse Lassie" movie I had was expecting. There were a couple of scenes that were interesting enough, but overall it didn't knock my socks off. 2.5/5

"Tiny Furniture" - Made by hipsters for hipsters. Awful. 1/5

"Grave of the Fireflies" - Anti-war anime movie about a brother and sister in Japan during WWII. 2/5

I took my niece to the theater today to watch The Secret World of Arrietty. I watched it in Japanese a few months ago but I wanted to take her to see the dubbed version. The movie was pretty cool. 3/5

After the movie was over, I went to the restroom and noticed that Star Wars in 3D was a about to start but we had to leave so she could finish her homework. Frown
