I had high hopes for this - but the NA/EU version band differences effectively means you need both, depending on where in the world your travel is.

I'm thinking a recent vintage Android phone would give similar functionality - not as nice as dedicated device, but coverage might be better. YMMV.

Note that you may struggle to connect this to major US carriers. For example, Verizon will ask your IMEI and if you type in a Mudi 7 IMEI, it will say this isn't an approved device.

Some people say they were able to do it by activating their SIM in a whitelisted device, then moving it to the Mudi 7. Some people resorted to cloning the IMEI of a "donor" device into their Mudi 7. Some people say it worked fine at first, but then got throttled (presumably because they detected a non-whitelisted device). Some people say they have better luck with MVNOs. Some people say they put phone SIMs in this, and it worked fine at first, but after a few days it got banned.

I'm not saying it can't be done. I'm just saying there are extra complications. You generally can't just buy this and take it to a provider and expect them to let you connect it. My friend just got one and I've been trying to help her connect it to a reasonable plan, and it has been a struggle.

If you plan to travel internationally, don't buy it. Both NA and EU versions lack critical bands required for 5G and (in some cases) 4G LTE operation.

Have you tried shield Internet from computers4people? It's a T-Mobile unlimited data sim with hotspot enabled.

I used another gli net travel router with SIM and activated the SIM with the phone then cloned the IMEI of the phone to it, changed the ttl and hop limit, and always have it connected to a VPN and so far it's been working fine for me.
