The best thing about Intel/AMD based laptops is that you can happily delete Windows with joy and install Fedora Linux for some serious work or Bazzite for gaming (and work). 😎 No Windows spamware, spyware bloat, just freedom and Linux. 🐧🔥

Just bought this and have it on hand. The best benefit of this laptop is it's weight at 999g. On par with zenbook 14.
Processor is a little lackluster along with ram but for a student use I think this is more than enough.
226v with 130v arc graphics can run most games in decent FPS. Obviously not high settings but playable.
If playing minecraft, LOL, rocket league... should be more than enough.

Just bought this and have it on hand. The best benefit of this laptop is it's weight at 999g. On par with zenbook 14.
Processor is a little lackluster along with ram but for a student use I think this is more than enough.
226v with 130v arc graphics can run most games in decent FPS. Obviously not high settings but playable.
If playing minecraft, LOL, rocket league... should be more than enough.

This has an extra M.2280 slot for storage expansion... Reminds me of the Motile laptops of years ago from Walmart.

Could anyone advise on how to compare this Lenovo ThinkBook 14x with the Yoga Slim 7i Ultra Aura Edition (14" Intel) available in the UK market (link below)?

I'm aware of the differences in the display (120Hz IPS vs 60Hz OLED) and the larger 512GB SSD. Aside from these, what other key differences should I be looking at?
Also, would OLED be the better choice if I'll mainly use the laptop for streaming, casual office tasks, web browsing, and light gaming? Assuming the price is similar, which model would you consider the more premium option?

226v is a lot for school work for high schoolers and for many undergrad majors. Sure the integrated graphics aren't top of the line but if we're talking "essentials" for student to do schoolwork then gaming shouldn't be on the list.

Fyi these chips came out 2 years ago, but are still very good for long hours of office work,browsing, and surprisingly decent with light eSports type gaming. My only gripe is that the price of these laptops is not much different from laptops of similar build quality from 2 years ago, but that's the rampocolpse for you. I checked ebay out to see what openbox and refurb laptops with this same chip and ram speed, and it's sitting around 600 to 700ish dollars (500 if you are willing to choose something like an Acer). Might as well pick this laptop for new and full warranty.

Decided to post a "non bozo" reply... this gen is probably pretty well supported now. The newer more efficient "3 series" from Intel, the audio chipset can often times be a problem. As always with a Linux distro, latest and greatest kernels/drivers will likely work the best.

Thinkbooks are generally Lenovo's professional consumer laptop and typically have better build quality compared to the normal consumer laptops.

As for the Yoga, these are mainly targeted for normal consumers who want portability or other functionality (e.g. 2-in-1, pen support, thin & light, etc.).

OLED displays are fantastic, but you can notice some text fringing issues if you stare at text or spreadsheets all day. However, both of these laptop displays are still completely usable for your mentioned options, so it really comes down to the other specs and which you prefer.

I was in on this until I saw "non-touch". I use the touchscreen a LOT on my X13 and T14s and am looking for a replacement on the X13... the prices on the ThinkPads have me looking down market for basic use. This one seems decent for $850 .. thoughts? It has the touchscreen and 512GB of storage. What am I really giving up from the ThinkPad by going to this?
Anything better for the price out there? BONUS: it will work perfectly with my existing Lenovo Thunderbolt docks.

Yes for our work we use just regular intel U100. which is more than enough other than ram.
I feel like RAM is more important for work rather than CPU actually.
But overall. I am happy with this purchase. Gives a balance of productivity and possible gaming if needed.
