And most impact wrenches are 1/2".
So it makes sense to start a 1/2" kit at 8mm (especially if you are servicing a rusty portable generator).
The HF Pittsburgh deep 1/2" impact set starts at 10mm, and costs $35
It might cost you $5 for just a 10mm 1/2" impact socket alone......

An 8mm head is only an M5 bolt. It will be destroyed using a 1/2 impact on it. The entire reason i mentioned that the sockets are too small to be used on 1/2 drives.

Once you have been turning wrenches for a while, you can feel when a fastener is so stuck that the head will twist off if you turn any harder.
That's when the hammering of an impact is called for. An impact wrench is not just for high torque; it's big advantage is that the hammering shatters the rust holding it frozen. Using short blasts; 90% of the time it will break free without damaging the fastener. The other 10% of the time, ya got to torch the MF.
Practice using the shortest blasts of hammering, it's a skill worth having in the rust belt.

Small severely rusted fasteners or those treated with red Loctite are most prone to breakage. The most effective solution is to apply heat to break the bond, then use a Vise Grip to remove the fastener.
The HF deep impact set {10 mm to 32 mm} was $20 a few weeks back. It's still reasonably priced today at $25. Regular impact is only $18. There are many HF stores in the US for quick exchange if defective.
