I have no idea. I ordered the 2nd the exact same way I ordered the first. But I have the same issue as you when trying to order a 3rd and have no solution. I guess some people got lucky enough to be able to order 2 before being cut off.

  2. Wouldn't installing U1 firmware before network unlocking interfere with the process?

They are still locked. I have 6 free lines from T-Mobile so it doesn't matter to me as long I can use it on T-Mobile. After 1 year you can flash back to metro/T-Mobile firmware to unlock.

My tablet was activated through the Metro website and I got a confirmation by email. It is also listed as one of the devices in my account. But it never actually connected physically to a T-Mobile tower, since I am out of country. Can I still request unlock after 365 days?

Is it true that Metro now requires to pay up-to 90-100 days of service otherwise will be charged for the balance of the devices? I read it on reddit. I'm now skeptical to get my second a11+ tablet as second added line.

For this offer, T-Mobile / Metro is still having customer service and their escalation gate miscommunicate a requirement to keep the tablet line open for 30 days (possibly longer 90 / 120 days) before cancellation. The T&C is existing customers have another line for 30 days prior, not that the tablet / data line remain open for 30 days. On escalation the "supervisors" are having to attempt overrides to remove the tablet line, with the last one indicating it took 4 override attempts before the system would allow it. They will attempt to tell you that the line cannot be cancelled throughout the entire call, or that you have to go to a store, even when online fulfillment was used for the offer. Make sure to submit a formal complaint, and be persistent, threaten closing out the account, porting out, etc. I've done this several times now. If they want the requirement, they can do it legally in the T&C, not lie about it after the fact, and try to bully customers into keeping the line.

So, after activating the tablet - do I cancel the plan immediately or let the plan run for a month and let it expire by itself? I only plan on using it as a Wi-Fi device. Will it unlock itself after 365 days?

It doesn't expire by itself, unless you mean to not pay the next monthly bill. You will be billed again after 30 days. They will lie and tell you that you must keep the line for 30 days or longer, or they can't cancel it, or you must go to a store. The stores are "authorized resellers" and will lie as well, since retention is the main profit for them. Yes, if you have activated the tablet, it is advertised as automatically unlocking after a year. The first rule of Metro is never go to a store, so keep pushing for the cancellation with customer service. There are no contracts, there is nothing in the T&C that you are obligated to retain a line for any duration, and again, they will lie regardless.

Thanks! Yes, that's what I meant..not to pay next month's bill. Plan is to turn off auto pay or delete the payment from the system. So, it will unlock by itself in a year right?

Am i reading this right with what you are posting that its hard to cancel online by yourself or not an option and you have to call to cancel? Or go to a store?


Will a store give you pushback on canceling the phone and tablet lines? This is prepaid, so what if you dont autopay after the initial payment?


I got the A37 = $45 and a tablet = $20......might try to get 1 more at this price range.

People are over thinking too much. Just don't pay and done. If you want to just keep the voice line just port out the Tablet line. Unless they love talking to customer service.
