This myQ smart garage keypad adds smartphone control and a built in camera for garage access, with handy alerts, auto shut, and temporary access codes for contractors or deliveries. The app can open and close the door without a subscription, while recording and playback are the paid extras. Battery life is the biggest variable, ranging from a few days to a few months, and the camera drains it faster. Wi Fi reliability and myQ's locked down ecosystem also draw complaints, so it fits best if you want basic remote garage control and can live with the tradeoffs.

I bought a hardwire kit and removed the battery, otherwise the drain was pretty fast and I felt like I had to constantly worry. Works great as keypad but sucks as camera so I just use it for the keypad. Better off buying separate solar cam system from Eufy if you want good video recordings that show color at night.

The battery lasts me at least 2 months; some of you have a battery problem, maybe a defect. I also bought an aftermarket battery while the other one was charging.

For the sub, of course, you need to pay extra; there is no storage memory. You don't have to pay sub if you don't want playback. Other than that, it replaced my cheap ass garage door opener; that's what I want, and I can see live anytime i want. and Control while i am not home for whoever I can open door for them to get in.

For this price, what do you ask for?

So much misinformation in here.

I have had one of these for almost 3 years now and it works well. Battery lasts at least 1 month and I use it quite a bit. I usually take the battery out on a weekend when I'm working in a garage and let it charge and reinstall it. The only real downside IMO is that charging is via micro USB (maybe that's different now) and it takes about 5-6 hours.

You do not need a subscription to open or close your garage - I think all you need the sub for is recording which I do not really care about but if you do then keep that in mind.

Amazon cannot get into your garage without you enabling that feature and some people really like it.
Amazon has been getting sneaky and defaulting to the garage delivery option during checkout. Yes, you technically have to "opt in," but that delivery option is now often pre-selected by Amazon & it becomes easy to miss during the checkout process.

If you don't already have these MyQ system, I'd recommend you stay away. I don't have the keypad, but have had problem after problem with the garage door opener (which you also need for the keypad.)

That's not true. You can open and close it fine with the MyQ app and the basic door opener without any subscription. Just don't expect integration with other apps or additional functions... I haven't actually tried the keypad, so that might be 'extra'.

I was just about to say the same thing
While MyQ isn't the best, it does its purpose for me
I do have to reset the system every few months or so, but I think
that has to do with connection my wifi system more than the unit

No wonder it's cheap -.-). They get you with the subs
You don't need to sub. I haven't subbed for the past few years. I have other cameras.

I bought another at this price a while back just to have a spare battery on hand and swap them out when they get low.

So to be clear:
- It is misinformation however...
- You charge it every weekend.
- Don't even use it most battery draining feature (video recording).
- Don't pay for the sub, and purchased this thing to then not use its only major benefit over a non-video keypad.
- Forgot to say what was even the "misinformation."

Alright, cool, cool, cool. You do you champ.

If you have anything MyQ remember that it only takes one small action for Amazon to suddenly be able to enter your garage for deliveries. They decided to opt in my parents because they had Alexa and MyQ linked, and never once asked for permission before entering the garage.
This isn't accurate. The Amazon Key feature, as it's called, is a thing you opt into or not when you place an order through Amazon. By default, it is not a selected option. The same optional "in garage delivery" exists with Walmart+ orders, too, but again, only if the person placing the order actively selects the in-garage option every time an order is made.

Crazy that this is basically the same price (or cheaper) than a replacement keypad. If they included the hard-wire kit, I would bite. My keypad has been acting up after 13 years and spending $40 on a 25' plug isn't worth it to me. I could probably hack one together but not sure I have any plugs long enough.

They may use the live video feed, which is not gated by a sub.

I bought one of these because our garage door opener is a Chamberlain and uses the MyQ app. I returned it because the WiFi is absolute trash. It kept disconnecting even after I relocated a mesh endpoint (with wired back haul) to about only 15 ft away from it inside the house.

MYQ/Chamberlain would have to pay ME to purchase one of their products ever again.
Like others have mentioned, lots of anti-consumer practices from locking down their platform, eliminating APIs and putting every notable feature behind a subscription paywall.
Their bussiness model just sucks.
