Buying ground beef in the US and not knowing where the beef is from... quite the gamble.

Community Reviews

This is a very cheap 80 20 ground beef deal that works best for stocking the freezer or making burgers, meatballs, and other everyday meals. The price has landed as low as $1 per pound with coupons, and orders have also hit the $25 grocery minimum for free Prime shipping by adding milk, juice, or other staples. Availability is regional and the max is 5 pounds. Freshness and quality have generally been fine, though there are concerns about unclear origin, packaging, and occasional tougher pieces.

Is it from Argentina? The Chinese-rejected meat that we let in for some political reason?

I mean, if you are one of those average vanilla consumers who eats up social media like it is the gospel, and believe everything you see / read, then no, absolutely not. It is full of poisons right? If you are like me and have well above average common sense, then it is going to be safe for a few reasons. One, Amazon is not going to damage its brand or face multi-million dollar lawsuits when people get sick and possibly die. If you do a simple Google search on Amazon meat supplier, you quickly see that 92 percent of its beef products were raised in the U.S.
Lol amazon is full of counterfit products. Amazon makes you jump though extra hoops to get a refund when they send coffee or glass or cookies in the same box as canned food. And the cans not only are crushed under their own weight but also crush everything else in the over sized box they send it in.

If you are a frequent Amazon customer you can easily get non-return refunds instantly thru chat with their AI agent. I've done it dozens of times when issues with quality or size or temperature etc. Including avocados. It's a seriously underrated perk of buying thru Amazon grocery and Amazon Fresh.
For food? They make me try the return reject it after filling out a bunch of questions because it is food. Then talk to an agent that asks the same questions again. Then take photos and upload then finaly give the return. You would think some day they won't ship fragile things with cans in the same oversized box with one sheet of paper for padding.

That's not at all how it works in my experience with food returns (not requiring a return, instant refund, almost always from the AI agent without a human). I've done dozens. No photos, just click the boxes. YMMV based on your standing with Amazon I guess.

Right? I mean people who do that are almost as annoying as the people who police that behaviour. ;-)

It's not very good quality ground beef. I would advise against it. Hard pieces like cartilage or bone... Not buying it again

If you ever eat hamburgers at a restaurant you have eaten imported ground beef from Argentina that the FDA has inspected.Your only concern today should be whether or not that particular executive branch agency is actually still doing its job.

Can someone explain, in a non-sensationalized way, what the plausible risks of buying this are?
