UPDATE: The one listed here says it is hardwired, but it actually comes with a plug you can swap in and set to 40amp via dip switches (via the picture, comment above, and confirmed by the manual). So, I applied the code and ordered it. Thanks!

This Wolfbox EV charger stands out for flexible setup, with 48A hardwired operation or 40A use on a 14 50 plug, plus app and RFID control. The cable and charger are described as sturdy, and charging a Model Y at 40A has worked well. Installation can be straightforward when the panel is nearby, though longer runs and electrical work can add significant cost. The main caveat is that plug and charge may need app setup and can reset after power cycles, so it is a practical pick if you want configurable charging without paying for bigger brands.
Drivers who want adjustable charging speeds, because it can be set to 48A on a hardwired 60A circuit or 40A on a 50A circuit with the plug option.
EV owners who want app or RFID control, because plug-and-charge can be enabled in the app and the charger can also run through RFID.
Model Y owners using a J1772 adapter, because it charges successfully at 40A and the cable is described as heavy-gauge and durable.
Homeowners with a nearby panel who want a straightforward hardwired install, because the charger can be mounted close to the breaker box with a short wire run.
Shoppers expecting a simple DIY install at a distant panel, because longer wire runs can get expensive and electrical work may require professional help.
Owners planning to reuse an old dryer or welder outlet long term, because appliance outlets can fail under sustained EV charging and an EV-rated outlet is recommended.
Drivers who need true plug-and-charge to stay on after every power cycle, because plug-and-charge can reset to OFF and require the app to toggle again.
People wanting a compact wall unit, because it is about twice the size of a Tesla wall charger.

unreal price for a good charger, even tesla owners should just buy an adaptor to take advantage of this. I just recently bought an Iyilo charger, but I'd have bought this if this price existed.
I also saw a review that said that RFID can be turned off so it can be plug and charge.
I already placed my order for the 48A model where the code worked and the code doesn't work a second time on the 48A version either, so I can't test any longer.

Edit - some local jurisdictions require a permit and/or inspection for this type of work. YouTube is a great resource to show how to do this project. Also, if your garage has an existing 30A-50A outlet that was used with a dryer, welder, etc. it is really straight-forward to use it with a car charger. There are outlets you can swap to that are rated for electric car chargers (small green symbol on the outlet) that are recommended over older outlets just be sure you adjust the dip switches on the charger to match the breaker size on the outlet.
