UPDATE: The one listed here says it is hardwired, but it actually comes with a plug you can swap in and set to 40amp via dip switches (via the picture, comment above, and confirmed by the manual). So, I applied the code and ordered it. Thanks!

This Wolfbox EV charger stands out for flexible setup, with 48A hardwired operation or 40A use on a 14 50 plug, plus app and RFID control. The cable and charger are described as sturdy, and charging a Model Y at 40A has worked well. Installation can be straightforward when the panel is nearby, though longer runs and electrical work can add significant cost. The main caveat is that plug and charge may need app setup and can reset after power cycles, so it is a practical pick if you want configurable charging without paying for bigger brands.
The charger can be configured for 48A or 40A using DIP switches, which supports different breaker setups.
The charger can operate without extra user input when Plug and Charge is enabled in the Wolf app.
The included 14-50 plug can be swapped in about five minutes, which simplifies adapting the installation.
The charging cable is described as heavy-gauge and durable, and it has worked well at 40A on a Model Y.
The promo code may fail to apply on Amazon, including cases where it did not work for 40A or 50A versions.
Plug-and-charge can reset to OFF after every power cycle, and the app may be needed to toggle it back on.
Hardwired installation can be difficult without electrical experience, and longer copper wire runs can become expensive.
The listing may not match the NEMA 14-50 expectations because the product page does not mention NEMA 14-50 despite the title.

unreal price for a good charger, even tesla owners should just buy an adaptor to take advantage of this. I just recently bought an Iyilo charger, but I'd have bought this if this price existed.
I also saw a review that said that RFID can be turned off so it can be plug and charge.
I already placed my order for the 48A model where the code worked and the code doesn't work a second time on the 48A version either, so I can't test any longer.

Edit - some local jurisdictions require a permit and/or inspection for this type of work. YouTube is a great resource to show how to do this project. Also, if your garage has an existing 30A-50A outlet that was used with a dryer, welder, etc. it is really straight-forward to use it with a car charger. There are outlets you can swap to that are rated for electric car chargers (small green symbol on the outlet) that are recommended over older outlets just be sure you adjust the dip switches on the charger to match the breaker size on the outlet.
