But I was once banned from my local Walmart over Beastie boys licensed to ill. This was back when it was new and cassette tape. First copy came from Kmart Lol but was great. Loved it. All of about 24 hours i had it. Got stolen at a party that very night. It had just recently come out but had reach the Billboard charts. Some of these kids I went to probably 8th going onto highschool school with had never even heard of such a thing. Perhaps LL Cool j and run DMC. I went to Walmart got the replacement there. Put it in my walkman scratched my head thinking wait a minute what was that? Any swear was censored out with a record scratch type sound. I looked the cassette tape cover over there was an explicit lyric warning all Tipper Gore on it but no mention of any alterations to the actual album. So I took it in slapped it down pretty sure I even had my receipt saying I wanted my money back. Old lady looked at me and said why what's wrong with it? I said because you censored it you altered the music nowhere on the label does it say you did this so I want my money back. She said no that didn't qualify for a return reason. I was maybe 13/14 and livid. I didn't have that kind of money for these people to screw around with like that and this tape is ruined. I tried to keep my cool used a few expletives while I asked for the manager. When I was 14 I was full grown adult size with a mohawk an actual punk. The manager came out told me to leave the store. Sure soon as I get my money back because I have to go back to Kmart and we buy the album this one's ruined and it came that way from the store. I'm told if I don't leave they will call the police. So I'm like sure ger the police tell you to refund me whatever it takes. Officer shows up asked me what the problem is I explained with my tape is ruined and it came that way and why. He looks at him and says why don't you give him his money back? Got my money back they trespassed me but I don't know if the cop ever even put it through. I walked in there a week later 6 ft tall with a mohawk I'm sure they recognized me.
Anyway I have a hard time listening to nine inch nails as a person who was born Punk now as an adult getting older. A little too much wine for my taste. Pretty hate machine was okay MTV sure did make him into somebody before the album even came out This one too was okay. but just the reality when you realize Trent Reznor was a spoiled person and was independently wealthy by Lollapalooza. There was very little for him worthy of whining about other than a teenage crush. Just ask Alan Jorgensen about that. He had to admit it got really hard ro be angry when your life was so good.
Years later i was 24 my girlfriend's goth 14 year old sister liberated any nine inch nails or the Marilyn Manson CD out at that time that I may have had. I never replaced them because they found the home they needed.
But if you're here, you probably like Nine Inch Nails and other work that Trent Reznor has done. I was actually going to recommend that people check out Prick and Lucky Pierre. Prick was also on Nothing Records with reznor doing some backup vocals and work on the album Animals. I liked that album, the death baby took that one too. Later
