$100 bill, 20 bucks tip. That's 120 bucks. THe 65 GC pays for the 100 bill, another 20 bucks TIP that is not discounted. So you're paying 85 bucks for a 120 tab. 85/120=...wait for it...70.8%. That's a 29.2% discount anywhere this is accepted. If you do takeout and not pay tip, it's 35%. That is by all account...INSANELY GOOD! We have anything from michelin rated restaurants to coffee shops by us(NYC) and in a fairly decent volume.
Long story short, for those of us living in big cities where there are a lot of restaurants available on the platform, this is massive. It's literally the only reason I keep a costco membership.
The way it was set up and the way they were throwing those 50/50 or even 50/100 deals was unsustainable. And it's also a model used by practically anyone to attract customers and build an eco system. Was GREAT while it lasted, this is still great, just slightly less...

Advantages of buying the restaurant gift card
1) no expiration, whereas the $50 off $100 offer usually expires within 2 or 4 weeks.
2) you can pay gratuity with the restaurant gift card, whereas the inkind app makes you pay gratuity with the credit card on file
What I should do is get a drink at a bar that accepts it, close check and then order food separately. - I mean its annoying but since they killed stacking...
Its also a great way to manufacture some spend. Got a sub I need to meet. Costco online also takes Mastercard though this sub is on a Visa.
If I knew I was going somewhere the same day as Costco, I'd do it, but... Otherwise this seems ripe for failure given how large the gap is with paying with Inkind in all these ways versus real prices.
Restaurants come and go, too, so I can't imagine it works well for them, either.

Yesterday I ordered chicken parm and pasta which cost $52 (the side of pasta was $12) so even with 35% off , I still paid $34, which was actually the fair price in my opinion.
I am not sure who eats the 35% discount Inkind provides to Costco, there are so many variables to what the restaurant gets
In addition I asked the bartender if she cared if I brought a networking group to the restaurant and promoted InKind with my code on the event page. She said she didnt mind, its actually easier because the pmt is all done in the app
You can be a pessimist but I dont see them going anywhere soon, and I am happy to get my 65 cents on the dollar at these overpriced restaurants
I've done it many times for take out. Never called ahead though, but I assume it's the same if you pay at the restaurant and not through a 3rd party
I use to order dozen to go and just tell the cashier I want to pay with InKind and she would give me the check number. Only caveat is that it would default to a 20% tip on a togo bagel order in which I would normally not tip
