Anyone know if these work at all if they're not drilled into the ground? Like if they were just placed on asphalt, would they slide or would the angle provide enough downward force to offset it slipping?

they slide, I had a different pair they brought some tape, in half insulated garage the tape went bad in a few weeks.

You'll need heavy rubber stops to not slide away easily and be functional without drilling. I don't see the weight of these on the listing, but if it $20 and free shipping, you can bet it's not very heavy.
